Do weighted blankets really help with anxiety?

Research shows that weighted blankets can help soothe anxiety. The gentle pressure and weight you feel when you sleep under a weighted blanket has a calming feel similar to a hug which can help to greatly reduce the feeling of stress and anxiety.

The pressure from the blanket can also help with grounding, making you feel like you’re more present and less overwhelmed by what’s going on around you. One study found that this grounding feeling also helped to lower cortisol levels during sleep so you wake up feeling calmer.

Another study looked at the effectiveness of weighted blankets on adult sleep. Whilst this was a small study, out of 32 participants, 63% said their anxiety was lowered after using a weighed blanket.
