Saatva vs Purple mattresses — which Black Friday mattress sale should you shop?

Saatva and Purple are two sleep brands that have a model for every sleep style. With massive Black Friday discounts from both, you might be wondering whether to shop the deals from Saatva or Purple Mattress.

Right now, you can save $400 on all orders over $1,000 at Saatva with our exclusive link. That includes the Saatva Classic, which tops our guide to the best mattresses — the price of a queen drops to $1,695 (was $2,095).

Meanwhile, there's up to $1,100 off mattresses at Purple Mattress as part of its Cyber Weekend sale, with a queen-size Purple Plus on sale for $1,519 (was $1,899). We consider the Purple Plus one of the best mattresses for back pain.

These are two of our favorite Black Friday mattress deals, as these big savings don't come around often. So let's drill down into the deals and decide whether to shop for a Saatva or Purple Mattress this Black Friday...

Saatva vs Purple mattresses: Price & deals

  • Both are upper mid-range to premium mattress brands
  • Saatva offers $400 off all adult mattresses for Black Friday
  • Purple's Cyber Weekend sale cuts up to $1,000 off mattresses

Saatva and Purple are both premium brands with a few upper mid-range mattresses in the mix. That's why these deals are so exciting — it's a chance to get a high-quality bed for less. So let's dive into what both brands are offering Black Friday weekend.

Saatva mattress sales happen throughout the year, but we only see the discount stretch above $300 for most mattresses on select occasions. In the Saatva Black Friday sale, save $400 on all orders over $1,000 using our exclusive link. This is the same discount we spotted at Saatva during Labor Day and Memorial Day, and it matches the lowest price of the year for many mattresses — including the Saatva Classic, the Memory Foam Hybrid, and the Loom & Leaf.

However, if you're after one of the top-end Saatva mattresses, such as the Contour5 or Saatva RX, $400 off isn't our favorite Saatva deal. Instead, you'll find the biggest saving in the 15% off sale. However, be warned — the 15% off sale is rare and never lasts long. It might net you a few more dollars off, but you have to be on the ball to get your discount.

Saatva Classic Mattress:was from $1,395$995 at Saatva

Saatva Classic Mattress: was from $1,395 $995 at Saatva
The Saatva Classic is our all-time favorite mattress, and this is our favorite discount on it. Using our exclusive link, you can save $400 on all sizes, reducing a queen to just $1,695 (was $2,095) and a twin to $995 (was $1,395). This matches the best price we've seen on the Classic all year. As always, it comes with a one-year sleep trial, a lifetime warranty, and free in-home delivery with removal of your old mattress.

The Purple Black Friday sale took up to $700 off all mattresses, but now we've officially entered Cyber Weekend and Purple has bumped that discount to up to $1,000 off. Add an adjustable base and the savings can reach as much as $1,500.

Unlike the blanket Saatva deal, Purple's is a tiered saving, with the largest discounts reserved for select Purple models. As a brief overview, there's up to $200 off all sizes of the Purple Original Mattress, up to $400 off the Purple Plus, up to $500 off the Purple RestorePlus, and up to $1,100 off the Rejuvenate Premier Mattress.

Purple mattress sales are hard to predict and don't always follow the standard savings patterns we expect from other sleep brands. The best sale used to be a flat $400 off all models, which yielded strong prices for its lower-priced beds. Its current Cyber Weekend sale is the largest range of markdowns we've seen, but naturally, the biggest dollar-off discounts are reserved for the most expensive models.

Purple Plus Mattress: was from $1,499$1,139 at Purple

Purple Plus Mattress: was from $1,499 $1,139 at Purple
We don't often see exciting deals at Purple, and its Cyber Weekend sale exceeds its Black Friday savings. All sizes of the Purple Plus are now up to $445 off, with up to $800 off if you add a base. A queen is now just $1,519 (was $1,899). For all sizes below king, it's not the biggest saving we've spotted on this mattress — there has been a flat $400 off before — but it's one of the biggest in a while and likely the best we'll see before year's end. Included are free shipping, a 100-night trial, and a 10-year warranty.

Saatva vs Purple mattresses: Trial & Benefits

  • Saatva offers a 365-night trial, forever warranty, free white glove delivery
  • Purple provides a 100-night trial, 10-year warranty, free standard delivery
  • Saatva charges $99 for returns, Purple returns are free

Saatva's benefits are pretty much unbeatable: a 365-night sleep trial, a lifetime warranty, and free White Glove Delivery. A long mattress trial gives you ample time to test the bed and determine if it's right for you, while a forever warranty adds peace of mind that you're paying for quality.

Purple offers just a 100-night sleep trial and a 10-year warranty. This isn't bad — it's fairly standard — but considering the price of most Purple mattresses, we might expect something better.

Free White Glove Delivery is included with all Saatva mattresses. The mattress is delivered flat to the room of your choice, and installed on the bed frame, and Saatva will remove all the packaging, plus your old mattress and bed frame.

Purple delivery is a touch more complicated. The Essential and Restore ranges come with free standard delivery — the rolled mattress will be sent to your door and you take it from there. The Rejuvenate collection, which contains the most luxurious and expensive Purple beds, include free white glove delivery and old mattress removal. You can upgrade your Essential or Restore delivery to white glove for $200.

There is one area where Purple comes out clearly on top: returns. Purple offers free returns on all mattresses. Saatva charges a $99 returns or exchange fee.

Saatva vs Purple mattresses: Features, comfort, and build

  • Saatva's luxury mattresses suit a range of sleep styles
  • Purple uses a GelFlex Grid to create a unique pressure relief
  • Both brands offer all-foam and hybrid mattresses

Price is important when buying a mattress online but it can't be your only consideration. Saatva and Purple both offer beds for all sleep styles and body types, so let's dive into what you can expect from either brand.

Saatva's flagship model is the Saatva Classic, which our Saatva Classic Mattress review panel found comfortable for pretty much every sleep style from the jump. This luxurious mattress is available in three firmness levels and two heights, with a fantastic balance of pressure relief and support.

If that's not what you're looking for, the Saatva Contour5 is an all-foam mattress with ample contouring for a deep foam 'hug'. The Saatva Zenhaven offers all-natural comfort, while the Memory Foam Hybrid is Saatva's most affordable mattress (although as we discovered in our Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid Mattress review, no less comfortable).

Purple GelFlex Grid

Purple mattresses also offer variety but there's one thing every model in the line-up has in common: the GelFlex Grid. Made from hyperelastic polymer formed into a grid, this sits just beneath the surface of all Purple mattresses and can contour to every part of the body.

The GelFlex Grid provides Purple mattresses with a unique feel, as it responds to pressure to give either firm or soft support depending on what your body needs. It can feel slightly unusual, particularly on the Essential models that have a thinner all-foam build. But while our Purple Plus Mattress review panel took some time to adjust, they soon fell in love with the pressure relief and tailored support.

The Purple Restore and Rejuvenate lines are hybrid beds, using coils combined with the GelFlex Grid (plus foams) for sturdier support. These pricier beds have a more traditional feel, paired with that unusual GelFlex Grid.

Saatva vs Purple mattresses: which should you buy?

Shop the Saatva mattress Black Friday sale if...

You want all the best benefits: A full year's trial and a lifetime warranty are among the very best benefits on the market and sweeten the deal if you're shopping for a Saatva mattress.

✅ You want someone else to do all the work: No one knows better than the Tom's Guide sleep team just how cumbersome a mattress can be. With Saatva's free white glove delivery, someone takes care of the hard work — all you have to do is make the bed.

✅ You want a classic foam or hybrid feel: Saatva makes mattresses with the bouncy support of a traditional hybrid, the close hug of a classic memory foam, and everything in between.

Shop the Purple mattress Black Friday sale if...

You want a new approach to comfort: The GelFlex Grid is used in every Purple mattress and its adaptive pressure relief is unlike anything else. Opt for a Purple if you've been struggling to find a mattress that works for you and want to try something different.

✅ You're not sure what you're looking for in a mattress: Purple might not offer the lengthy trial of the Saatva, but returns are free. So if after 30 days you're still not sold on the bed, you don't have to lose any money.

You want a saving that doesn't come around that often: While you can find a discount semi-regularly at Purple, they're rarely this strong — and there have been plenty of times this year when all Purple models have been full price.
