Saatva and Tempur-Pedic are arguably the two of the most recognisable mattress brands in the US but, as you might expect, they offer very different sleeping experiences. So, if you’re in the market for a luxury mattress, which brand should you invest in?
In this Saatva vs Tempur-Pedic comparison we look at the Saatva Classic and the Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Adapt Hybrid to see which is best suited to your sleeping style.
The Saatva Classic is our top pick in our guide to the highest rated mattresses of 2025, but you’ll also find the all-foam version of the Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Adapt featured as our recommendation for back sleepers.
With the Memorial Day mattress sales just around the corner, we’re starting to see discounts across some of the major mattress brands, meaning now could be the perfect time to invest. So, let's help you choose where to best spend your money.
Saatva Classic vs Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Adapt Hybrid Mattress: Price & Trial
- Saatva regularly offer 12-15% off sales, plus $400 off during major sales
- Tempur-Pedic sales are less frequent, with larger discounts falling on major sales events
- Saatva offers a 365-night trial, while Tempur-Pedic offers 90 nights
Regular Saatva mattress sales mean you shouldn’t need to pay MSRP for the Saatva Classic, with discounts of between 12-15% being the norm. You’ll find the largest discounts around major sales events, where we’ve seen $400 off all sizes of the Saatva Classic. There’s currently 15% off all orders over $1,000, which takes a queen Saatva Classic down to $1,785 (MSRP $2,099).
Tempur-Pedic’s sales aren’t as ubiquitous as Saatva’s, but you will still find Tempur-Pedic mattress deals throughout the year, with the biggest discounts also occurring during major sales events. However, Tempur-Pedic sales can be hard to judge, as the brand will often just discount one particular mattress rather than the whole range. Still, we’d expect to see reduced prices around Memorial Day. Currently however, the Tempur-Adapt Hybrid is full price, meaning you’ll pay $2,499 for a queen.
Extras wise, the Saatva blows the Tempur-Pedic out of the water, with a 365-night trial and lifetime warranty. You’ll only get 90 nights to trial the Tempur Adapt, which we think is rather stingy for a luxury mattress. There’s also a 10 year warranty. Both mattresses do, however, come with free white glove delivery.

We rate the Saatva Classic as the best hybrid mattress in the world, offering sturdy support, exceptional pressure relief and superb temperature regulation. Available in three firmness options and two heights to suit all styles of sleeper, the Saatva Classic is the best all-rounder on the market. The current 15% off takes a queen down to $1,785 and you’ll get a 365-night trial, lifetime warranty and free white glove shipping.
Tempur-Adapt Hybrid Mattress: from $1,999 at Tempur-Pedic
The Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Adapt is one of the best luxury mattresses currently on the market. Designed to adjust to your weight, shape and temperature, this mattress offers exceptional pressure relief over three layers of foam and premium spring coils. Tempur-Pedic also offer free white glove shipping, a 90-night sleep trial and 10-year warranty.
Saatva Classic vs Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Adapt Hybrid Mattress: Materials & Design
- Both mattresses are hybrids, but the Saatva Classic is a hybrid innerspring
- The Saatva comes in a choice of two heights (11.5” and 14.5”)
- The Tempur-Adapt Hybrid is 11” high
The Saatva Classic is a hybrid innerspring mattress, made from a combination of foams and coils. It starts with a 3” thick Euro pillow top, made with organic cotton and zoned quilting in the middle for extra lumbar support. Underneath this, in the center third of the mattress, you’ll find a CertiPUR-US certified memory foam layer that’s specifically geared towards healthy spinal alignment, followed by a layer of individually wrapped 14.5-gauge recycled steel coils.
These contour to the body and are firmer in the center for more lumbar support. Finally, a support base of 13-gauge steel coils and a foam encasement around the perimeter provide structure and stability to the mattress.
Tempur Pedic has carved out a reputation as the maker of some of the best memory foam mattresses on the market, thanks to its proprietary and pressure relieving Tempur foam. The Tempur Adapt hybrid is a slimmer mattress with only four layers, combining that NASA-designed foam with the support of coils.
Starting at the top, there’s a cover with cooling yarn woven into it. Up next is a 1.5” layer of softer open cell Tempur foam to contour to the body, followed by another 1.5” layer of supportive Tempur foam for support. Underneath is the spring layer, with over 1,000 individually wrapped spring coils. The coils have reinforced edge support to stop sleepers sliding off the bed and also help to provide pressure relief.
Saatva Classic vs Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Adapt Hybrid mattress: Comfort & Support
- The Saatva Classic is available in three firmness options (plush soft, luxury firm, firm)
- The Tempur-Adapt is a medium firm mattress
- You’ll like on top of the Saatva while the Tempur-Pedic offers a little more sinkage
In our Saatva Classic mattress review, we tested the luxury firm option (5-7/10) and found it suitable for all sleeping styles. We rate it as one of the best medium firm mattress you can buy, but the mattress also comes in other options to suit different sleepers. You can also choose from a plush soft version that’s ideal for lightweight sleepers and side sleepers or a firm option that’s best suited to stomach sleepers and heavier bodies.
The Saatva Classic is a mattress that you lie on rather than sinking into, but you’ll find fantastic lumbar support and plenty of cushioning from the pillow top to help prevent any pressure buildup. The mattress also scored full marks in all our testing and the superb motion isolation makes it an excellent choice for those who share their bed with a restless sleeper.
We tested the all-foam version in our Tempur-Pedic Tempur Adapt mattress review, but the mattresses are broadly similar in terms of support and comfort. The hybrid version, as you’ve probably worked out, replaces a layer of foam with a layer of coils that offer a little more bounce back.
Tempur-Pedic is known for its slow moving foam that contours around the body to provide superior pressure relief, and you will still get some of this with the Tempur-Adapt Hybrid. However, this is a medium firm mattress that does offer a little more push back, making it an ideal choice for back sleepers in particular, who will find their spine is kept perfectly aligned. Side sleepers and stomach sleepers should enjoy it too, although lightweight side sleepers are likely to find it too firm.
Saatva Classic vs Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Adapt Hybrid mattress: Temperature regulation
- The Saatva uses a breathable cover, a small amount of foam and a double layer of coils to keep air circulating
- The Tempur Adapt has a cooling cover and individually wrapped coils to help with airflow
- If you sleep warm choose the Saatva over the Tempur-Pedic
The Saatva Classic is best described as temperature neutral, which means it doesn’t cling on to excess heat. The breathable cover does an excellent job of wicking away sweat and moisture, and this is backed up by the double layer of coils helping to promote airflow. The mattress also contains very little foam, helping to prevent heat from being trapped. During testing, none of our sleepers overheated or felt uncomfortable.
We were expecting the Tempur-Adapt to do a good job of cooling as its cover contains cooling fibers. In reality our testers found the all-foam version slept hot, with the foams trapping heat. The addition of a coil layer will help to promote a little more airflow through the bed, but this isn’t the best choice for hot sleepers who may want to consider one of the best cooling mattresses instead.

When testing the DreamCloud Luxury Hybrid for Tom's Guide, Jo said: "I loved the back support and pressure relief it offered. Plus, it looks far more expensive than it is."
