A luxury mattress can provide high quality rest for years and years, but before you invest in a premium bed, you want to know you're getting the right mattress for your sleep needs. Enter the Saatva Classic and the Nectar Luxe Hybrid Mattress, two luxury beds from two of our favorite sleep brands.

Both Saatva and Nectar are among the top recommendations in our best mattress of the year guide, and our sleep experts have praised both brands for their quality materials and versatile builds. The Saatva Classic comes out on top for variety — this bed suits almost everyone. But the Nectar Luxe Hybrid is a strong all-rounder at a lower price.

So are these luxury mattresses worth the splurge? We'll explore how the Saatva Classic vs Nectar Luxe Hybrid compare in terms of design and comfort, and which (if either) is right for you in this October's Amazon Prime Day mattress deals and sales.

Saatva Classic vs Nectar Luxe Hybrid mattress: Key differences

Saatva Classic vs Nectar Luxe Hybrid mattress: price & trial

  • Saatva Classic is premium, with up to 15% off and free white glove delivery
  • Nectar Luxe Hybrid is an upper mid-range bed, sales are evergreen
  • Both come with a 365-night trial and a forever warranty

As we explain in our Saatva Classic Mattress review this luxury innerspring hybrid is the flagship offering in the brand's current line-up. A queen size Classic has an MSRP of $2,095, but the monthly Saatva mattress sale can save you up to $300 on the largest size. Our favorite deal is up to $400, but this is a rare offer — we don't expect to see it again until the Black Friday mattress sales (and we can't guarantee it then).

Based on MSRP, you'd think the Nectar Luxe Hybrid is the more expensive mattress. However, Nectar mattress sales run throughout the year and offer a significant discount on every bed in the mattress line-up. You can often find up to 40% off the MSRP, and sometimes up to 50%.

With that in mind, a queen Nectar Luxe Hybrid Mattress is typically sold for $1,399 (reduced from an MSRP of $2,231). This places it in the upper mid-range price bracket.

Both Saatva and Nectar offer impressive benefits, including a 365-night mattress trial and a lifetime warranty. But the Saatva Classic just comes out on top, as you'll also get free white glove delivery, with the mattress delivered flat to the room of your choice.

The Saatva Classic is a premium mattress, but we feel it delivers a quality comparable to the price tag. You can save up to $600 in the Saatva OktoberRest sale, reducing a queen from $2,095 to $1,795. It's not the best price we've seen this year (it was $1,695 for Labor Day), but it's still a decent discount and you'll get a full year's trial, a forever warranty, and free white glove delivery.

Nectar is celebrating the changing of the seasons with a fall slash sale, taking up to 50% off all mattresses. And this deal has just gotten even better, with an extra $100 off when you spend $1,000 or more. Shop now, because this is one Nectar sale I don't expect to hang around.

Saatva Classic vs Nectar Luxe Hybrid mattress: Materials & design

  • Both are hybrid mattresses with layers of foam and springs
  • Saatva Classic is available 11.5" or 14.5" tall, with dual spring layers
  • Nectar Luxe Hybrid is 14" tall with two comfort foam layers and springs

The Saatva Classic Mattress is an innerspring hybrid — while it does include foam layers, the majority of the build is springs. We start with a three inch quilted pillow top, featuring Lumbar Zone Quilting to provide extra support in the central third. Below is a lumbar crown, consisting of high-density memory foam zoned, again, to the central third of the mattress.

It's now that we reach the coil layers, starting with the response coils. These are designed to contour to the body, with stronger coils used in the center to support the lumbar region. Beneath this is the base coil system, made with 13-gauge tempered steel springs to provide stability. Finally, a foam railing is placed around the perimeter to enhance edge support.

The Nectar Luxe Hybrid also features foams and springs, but the overall build differs significantly. At the top sits a layer of three-inch thick memory foam — for contoured pressure relief — wrapped in a breathable cover. Beneath this is another three inch layer of foam, this time with a quicker response for adaptable support.

Next comes the coils. In this case, just the one layer. The eight-inch coils are thicker at the edges and accompanied by a foam railing, again, to increase the support at the perimiter. Finally, a layer of foam adds stability to the base,

Saatva Classic vs Nectar Luxe Hybrid mattress: Support & comfort

  • Saatva Classic is available in three firmness levels: Soft, Luxury Firm, and Firm
  • Nectar rates the Luxe Hybrid as 6.5 on the firmness scale, or medium
  • You lie on top of the Saatva Classic, the Nectar Luxe has more sink

The Saatva Classic Mattress suits pretty much everyone, thanks to its wide range of customizations. You can pick between three feels (Plush Soft, Luxury Firm, and Firm), plus two heights (11.5 inches and 14.5 inches). That's a lot of options to fine tune the bed to suit your needs.

In our Saatva Classic Mattress review, we tested the Luxury Firm feel and found it comfortable for most sleep positions. Lightweight side sleepers might prefer the added pressure relief of the Plush Soft, while stomach sleepers and heavier back sleepers should consider the Firm.

A spring-heavy build gives the Saatva Classic a more traditional feel. It's a bed you lie on top of, rather than sink into. There's also a slight bouncy. We think the motion isolation is good enough for most sleepers, but if you share with someone particularly restless, you might benefit from a bed with thicker foams.

As the Nectar Luxe Hybrid is only available in one firmness level (and one height) it doesn't have the same broad appeal of the Saatva Classic. However, the medium feel is something of an all-rounder, and should suit most side sleepers and back sleepers. Stomach sleepers might benefit from something a little firmer.

We haven't had a chance to get our hands on the Nectar Luxe Hybrid, but we expect it to have good motion isolation thanks to its thicker foams. We also expect it to have more of a foam 'hug' than the Classic, which will appeal to those who like a bed that contours to the body.

If you tend to wake up aching, the Saatva Classic features multiple layers of zoned support for the lumbar region. But it's another bed in the Saatva line that tops our best mattress for back pain guide — and you can learn why in our Saatva RX mattress review.

Saatva Classic vs Nectar Luxe Hybrid mattress: Temperature control

  • Both are hybrid mattresses, which typically have good temperature control
  • The dual-coil build enhances the breathability of the Saatva Classic
  • Nectar Luxe Hybrid features a cool-to-the touch cover

The best cooling mattresses typically use high-tech features to add a chilled touch to your bed. The Saatva Classic doesn't do this, but don't doubt this bed's cooling prowess. With multiple spring layers allowing for air to circulate and cool, plus fewer foams to trap heat, our testers found the Saatva Classic sleeps comfortably cool.

The Nectar Luxe Hybrid does feature thicker foam layers, but that doesn't mean you should expect warmer nights. Cool-to-the-touch fibers have been woven through the cover for an instantly chilled feel.

You like a lot of choice: One of the biggest advantages of the Saatva Classic is that there are numerous configurations, with three feels and two heights. You can alter the bed to suit your needs.

✅ You have back pains: The Saatva Classic has been built with multiple layers of lumbar support, including a spinal wire and a cover with supportive quilting in the central third. This keeps your spine from sinking into the bed, which can cause pain.

You want a luxury finish: Crafted in the US with a sumptuous quilted pillow top finish, the Saatva Classic looks like a luxury bed, the kind you'd expect to find in a five star hotel.

You're on a slightly tighter budget: The upper mid-range Nectar Luxe Hybrid mattress is several hundred dollars cheaper than the Saatva Classic, for a luxury feel at a lower price.

You prefer a bed with a bit of sink: While the Luxe Hybrid won't provide the foam 'hug' of the best memory foam mattresses, the upper comfort layers contour to the body for pressure relief that embraces the touch points.

You want an instantly cool feel: Climb into the Luxe Hybrid and you should enjoy immediate coolness. It's refreshing for those who experience night sweats and hot flashes.
