Puffy Lux Hybrid vs Beautyrest Harmony Lux mattress: Price & Trial
- Puffy offer a slightly longer trial and warranty
- Beautyrest have more custmizable options which effects the price point
- Both companies offer free delivery
As luxury hybrids, these mattresses both sit in the mid-range end of the premium price category. The Puffy Lux Hybrid is more expensive when at full MSRP but they do offer bigger discounts when it comes to sales prices so this brings the cost of the mattresses right down and make them cheaper than the Beautyrest Harmony Lux. With the 4th of July sales kicking off early, expect to pay $1,499 (was $2,849) for a queen Puffy Lux Hybrid mattress, this comes with a 101-night sleep trial, free shipping and a lifetime warranty. The sales price also includes a free bedding set worth $600 which includes two pillows, a mattress protector and a sheet set.
The Beautyrest Harmony does have a variety of different customization options which make a huge difference to the price. However, we are looking at one of the best set ups which is the Beautyrest Harmony Lux Exceptional Coral Island in a Firm Pillow top. Beautyrest are also running their July 4th sale early this year and you can save up to $1,000 on select mattresses. A queen Beautyrest Harmony Lux Exceptional Coral Island in a Firm Pillow top right now will cost you just $1,799 (was $2,199) and that includes a 100-night home trial, 10-year warranty and free white glove delivery. Beautyrest also offer free mattress removal so you don’t have to worry about where your old bed is going to go.
Puffy does offer regular sales so whilst the Puffy Lux is more expensive when at full MSRP, when it’s on sale, the price is significantly lower than the Beautyrest Harmony Lux. You also get that extra night of sleep trial with Puffy Lux but we don’t think that makes too much of a difference. Likewise with the warranty periods, whilst Puffy offer a lifetime warranty, the 10-year warranty offered by Beautyrest should see you through the life of your mattress, given they only have a 7-10 year lifespan anyway. We are however impressed with Beautyrest’s offer of free white glove delivery and old mattress removal, this will make life a lot simpler when you’re switching out your old mattress.

Puffy Lux Hybrid vs Beautyrest Harmony Lux mattress: Materials & Design
- Both mattresses have a 6-layer design
- Both mattresses are a hybrid construction
- The Beautyrest is taller at 15.75" while the Puffy Lux is 12"
Both mattresses are a hybrid design, which means they’re made up of foam and coils. The Puffy lux Hybrid has six layers, the top layer is a stain-resistant cover that is removable and can be machine-washed. The next layers are 1.5 inches of pressure-relieving foam and 1.5-inch of gel-infused foam.
There is then 2-inch layer of humidity-resistant foam which can help with airflow and temperature regulation followed by a 7-inch layer of individually pocketed coils which are encased in a layer of high density foam. The bottom layer is a grip base cover, this is so that it sticks to the bottom of your bed and doesn’t move around, although, it’s quite weighty so it’s very unlikely to move around anyway.
The Beautyrest Harmony Lux Exceptional Coral Island in a Firm Pillow has extra cooling and memory foam than the less expensive and standard Premier Anchor Island. This mattress also has a very eco-friendly ethos, the first layer is made up of recycled plastic bottles that have been hand-collected from the ocean, a queen size mattress contains up to 100 discarded bottles, so this is a mattress from the eco-conscious sleeper.
The eco materials continue as there is then a cooling foam layer that uses plant-based cooling technology, there’s two carbon-infused layers of cooling foam for advanced temperature regulation, before a layer of Beautyrest’s patented ActiveResponse premium memory foam. There is then a layer of double-stranded, individually wrapped pocketed coils. This mattress also has the option to upgrade to a pillow top cover, this gives a quilted, more luxurious feel to the mattress. However, whilst pillow tops are usually soft and plush, the firm pillow top does remain firm.
Because the Beautyrest Harmony Lux Exceptional Coral Island has a Firm Pillow Top the profile of this mattress is raised from 14.74” to 15.75” whilst the Puffy Lux mattress is just 12” deep. It’s also worth noting that the Beautyrest Harmony Lux comes as a flat bed where as the Puffy Lux comes vacuum packed and delivered in a box.
Puffy Lux Hybrid vs Beautyrest Harmony Lux mattress: Comfort & Support
- The Puffy lux has a soft surface with sink in feel
- The Beautyrest has a firm-pillow top ideal for back and stomach sleepers
- The Puffy Lux suits all types of sleeper
Both of these mattresses have layers of foam and pocketed coils that combine together for both comfort and support. The Puffy Lux hybrid is rated as a medium-firm tension but during our Puffy Lux review our tester found is more on the softer side than firm. This mattress is plush and the foams don’t contour to the body in the same way you expect memory foam to.
However, it is a mattress that will suit all type of sleeper and does do a good job at pressure point relief and keeping the spine perfectly aligned so if you’re suffering from aches and pains, you can’t go wrong with this mattress. It also performed well when it came to motion isolation, making this mattress ideal for couples especially if one partner is a restless sleeper. The whole mattress is encased in a high density foam, this keeps it all in place and gives it a strong durable base, because the encasement goes right the way around the outside of the mattress, the edge support is fantastic.
The Beautyrest Harmony Lux does have different firmness options but the firm pillow is very firm, coming in at 9 out of 10 on the firmness scale, there is no five in this bed at all making it ideal for back or stomach sleepers who need that firm support. Even though the pillow top is included, it still remains firm.
The firmness does mean that it does really performs when it comes to motion isolation, and if you’re someone who moves around a lot at night, you should find this an easy mattress to manoeuvre as there’s no sink-in at all. That lack of sink-in also means that the edge support on this mattress is superior, you’ll be able to sit or sleep on the edge of this bed comfortably without feeling as if you’re going to fall off.
Puffy Lux Hybrid vs Beautyrest Harmony Lux mattress: Temperature regulation
- The Beautyrest has two extra layers of cooling foams
- The Puffy Lux has a gel-infused layer
- Both mattresses have springs that promote additional airflow
Neither of these mattresses class themselves as dedicated cooling mattresses but they both do pretty well at keeping hot sleepers cool. The coils on the Puffy Lux are wrapped in foam but that doesn’t stop the airflow from circulating throughout the mattress. This mattress also has a climate comfort foam and gel-infused foam which are just under the cover this helps to dissipate heat from around the body leaving sleepers cool.
Whilst the Puffy lux is good, the Beautyrest Harmony Lux Hybrid however, does do a far more superior job at keeping sleepers cool As we mentioned about, the Coral Island model has two extra layers of cooling foams including one special layer called InfiniCool® MAX. This is also a plant-based fibre and does a really good job of keeping heat away from the body. There’s also no encasement around the coils so air flows freely keeping the mattress nice and cool. And whilst this model is mode expensive than the standard Beautyrest Harmony Lux is it worth the extra money if you’re a hot sleeper.
