Naturepedic vs Helix Midnight Luxe: Which luxury hybrid for side sleepers mattress should you buy?
How to choose between the Naturepedic Concerto and Helix Midnight Luxe if you’re a side sleeper
When it comes to choosing the right mattress for side sleepers, both the Naturepedic Concerto and the Helix Midnight Luxe are exceptional choices. Both mattresses boast unique features that cater to the specific needs of side sleepers to ensure a comfortable night's sleep night after night.
We know from testing the best mattress for your sleep needs that side sleepers require optimal pressure relief around the shoulders, hips and knees, which is where they need it most. They also require enough support to ensure correct spinal alignment. Without these two elements, you’ll find that you’ll wake in the morning feeling stiff, sore and in pain.
While they share many similarities, there are some key differences between both beds, which we will explore in finer detail during this Naturepedic vs Helix Midnight Luxe mattress comparison piece. Price-wise, the Helix Midnight Luxe is substantially cheaper than the Naturepedic Concerto ($1,780 vs $2,799 for a queen, taking into account current discounts). However, the Labor Day mattress sales are fast approaching, which could bring the price of the Concerto down further.
Naturepedic vs Helix Midnight Luxe mattress: Price and trial
- A queen size Helix Midnight Luxe is currently on sale for $1,780
- A queen size Naturepedic Concerto costs $2,799
- Both beds have a 100 night sleep trial
Naturepedic tends to reserve its discounts for major mattress sale events, so you can expect to occasionally pay full MSRP on their beds. The Naturepedic Concerto is the second most affordable mattress in the company lineup up but it is one of the most expensive latex hybrid mattresses on the market.
Right now, you can buy a queen Naturepedic Concerto for $2,799 which is $426 more expensive than the queen Helix Midnight Luxe when it’s at full MSRP. We are expecting to see around about a 20% discount during the upcoming Labor Day sales in September, so unless you’re desperate to upgrade your bed right away, you may want to hold out for the sale.
In contrast, you'll never have to pay full MSRP at Helix. Helix sales range between 20% and 25%, with the latter reserved for major sale events. However, we have seen the Luxe and Elite collection discounted by as much as 30% in recent months, and we're hoping to see the same levels of savings over Labor Day.
Right now, a 25% off sale brings the price of a queen size Helix Midnight Luxe down to $1,780 (from $2,373), making it over $1,000 cheaper than the Naturepedic Concerto.
Both of these mattresses have a 100-night sleep trial and they both have free shipping and returns. There’s a slight difference in the warranty period but that’s to be expected especially as latex is more durable than its foam counterparts. Naturepedic offer a 25-year warranty and you get a 15-year warranty with the Helix Midnight Luxe.
Naturepedic Concerto mattress: from $1,699 at Naturepedic
Naturepedic isn’t currently on sale, meaning that you’ll pay $2,799 for a queen. If you don’t need an immediate upgrade to your bed then we’d recommend hanging on to the next sales event which we are expecting to see in September for Labor Day. Typically Naturepedic offer around 20% off all their mattresses so it is a decent saving if you can hold off. Naturepedic mattresses also come with a 100-night sleep trial, 25-year warranty and free shipping and returns.

Naturepedic vs Helix Midnight Luxe mattress: Materials and design
- The Naturepedic Concerto has eight layers
- The Helix Midnight Luxe has six layers
- The Naturepedic uses a latex layer whilst the Luxe uses luxury foam
Like the best organic mattresses, the Naturepedic Concerto is crafted from premium organic materials. It stands at 13” deep and boasts eight support layers, using a range of natural and non-toxic materials. The top layer is a mixture of organic cotton, organic wool batting and a PLA comfort layer.
These work together to not only offer plush comfort but also to control temperature for a cooler sleep. Next there’s a layer of organic latex followed on by two sets of micro-coils. Below the coils you’ll find another thin layer of organic cotton batting and then this is all encased in an organic cotton fabric encasement.
The Helix Midnight Luxe is our best mattress for side sleepers overall. But instead of organic latex, it relies on premium foams for support. This luxury hybrid is made up of six layers and starts with a Tercel cover which is cooling and will wick away any moisture. It has a plush, quilted pillow top and then the first layer of cradling foam which is high-density and gives the mattress a medium feel.
This is then followed by two layers of pressure relieving foam including a layer of copper gel memory foam which isn’t just contouring but also cooling. There is then a support core of individually wrapped steel coils and then topped off with a base layer of durable foam.
Naturepedic vs Helix Midnight Luxe mattress: Comfort and support
- The Helix Midnight Luxe is around 6/10 on the firmness scale
- The Naturepedic Concerto is around 5/10 on the firmness scale
- The Helix Midnight Luxe has added lumbar support
Both of these mattresses excel in providing support for side sleepers. The Naturepedic Concerto rated as having medium tension but is a lot softer than the Helix Midnight Luxe sitting at 5 out of 10 on the firmness scale. During our Naturepedic Concerto review, our tester described this mattress as a plus feel with plenty of sink-in feeling. But despite the cloud-like softness, the mattress still offers a good level of support, especially in the areas where side sleepers need it the most. The latex layer also is super responsive and snaps back into shape when weight is lifted.
The Helix Midnight Luxe is also a medium-feel bed but it does feel firmer, sitting around 6 out of 10 on the firmness scale. The sewn-in pillow top cover provides a cloud-like sleep surface, which provides ample sink-in support around the shoulders, hips and knees. In addition to premium pressure relied, our Helix Midnight Luxe mattress review lead tester found that it offered superb motion isolation and edge support.
Although this mattress has been designed with side sleepers in mind, it does have additional lumbar support. Not only does that mean it's supportive enough for back sleepers, we rate it as the best mattress for side sleepers with back pain.
Naturepedic vs Helix Midnight Luxe mattress: Temperature regulation
- Both do a good job of temperature regulation
- The Naturepedic is made from naturally cooling materials
- Option to upgrade the Helix Midnight Luxe to a GlacioTex cover
Both of these mattresses do a really good job at regulating temperature and keeping sleepers cool. The Naturepedic uses organic materials that are naturally cooling such as organic wool, cotton and latex rather than specific cooling technology like the Helix Midnight Luxe. Latex also is naturally breathable so heat won’t get trapped within the layers. This combined with the added benefit of the pillow top and glueless encased coils do a great job of maintaining good airflow and dissipating any heat.
Helix Midnight Luxe is a great option for very hot sleepers. It comes with a breathable and moisture-wicking Tencel cover as standard, but there is an option to upgrade to a GlacioTex cooling cover. This is a specialist fabric that is designed to be cool to the touch and also will absorb and dissipate heat. There is also a layer of copper gel-infused foam which is known for drawing heat away from the body and then the pocketed coils give a layer that promotes airflow and prevents any heat from building up.
