Black Friday might be drawing to a close, but we're still seeing some fantastic discounts available on a wide range of mattresses. But which are the ones worth taking advantage of? As a mattress tester, I've handpicked five mattresses that I think are worth investing in.

Many of these mattresses feature in our best mattress guide for all sleepers and budgets, with all scoring highly in our testing. My top offer is the double Panda Hybrid Bamboo Mattress Pro for £903 at Panda(RRP) £1,290, a medium-firm mattress that provides amble support for back and stomach sleepers.

Not the right deal for you? I've selected five mattresses that I've slept on and tested and that I think are well worth your interest today, with choices to suit all sleeping styles. Let's take a closer look...

My top 5 Black Friday mattress deals

1. Panda Hybrid Bamboo Mattress Pro: £950

1. Panda Hybrid Bamboo Mattress Pro: from £950 £665 at Panda London
If you're a hot sleeper, the Panda mattress will keep you cool with its bamboo-infused memory foam, breathable cover and open springs. But this eco-conscious bed also offers fantastic support and a luxurious appearance. In my Panda Hybrid Bamboo Mattress Pro review, I rated the mattress as a true medium firm at 7.5 out of 10, finding it particularly supportive for back and stomach sleepers. It was also comfortable for side sleepers, but I did feel that, as a lightweight combi sleeper, it didn't have quite enough give. Panda's OrthoAlign foam does a fantastic job of spinal alignment, and motion isolation and edge support are excellent too. A double mattress is reduced to £903 (RRP £1,290) in today's Black Friday sales and you'll also get a 100-night trial, 10-year warranty and free delivery and returns.

2. Brook + Wilde Suprema Mattress: £1,000

2. Brook + Wilde Suprema Mattress: from £1,000 £650 at Brook + Wilde
Made to order and with nine layers, the Brook + Wilde Suprema is a luxury mattress with a choice of three different firmness options (soft, medium, firm). As a sufferer of lower back pain, I decided to test the firm option in my Brook + Wilde Suprema mattress review, rating it at 8.5 out of 10 (Brook + Wilde rate it at 7). As a lightweight sleeper, i did find that it took a few days to break in but, once I had done that, the mattress really helped to get rid of my aches and pains. Motion isolation and temperature regulation are excellent, but the edge support on the Suprema was a let down, meaning we didn't feel comfortable sleeping right up to the edge of the bed. Apart from this though, the Brook + Wilde is a fantastic option. You'll also get a 200-night trial, 10-year warranty and free premium delivery.

3. Otty Firm Hybrid Mattress: £549.99

3. Otty Firm Hybrid Mattress: from £549.99 £449.99 at Otty
The Otty Firm Hybrid mattress is a flippable mattress with firm and extra firm options, particularly suited to stomach sleepers and those of a heavier build. As I'm a lightweight combo sleeper who sleeps on her back and side, you might be wondering why I wrote the Otty Firm Hybrid mattress review, but the orthopaedic qualities of the Otty also make it a good choice for back pain sufferers. I felt the mattress did do a really good job of easing back pain, but it was very firm and is probably best suited overall to those of a heavier build and strict stomach sleepers, who will get all the support they need to keep their spines aligned. Surprisingly for a firmer mattress motion isolation was great, as were temperature regulation and edge support. A double mattress is currently reduced to £609.99 from its RRP of £749.99 and you'll a 100-night trial, 10-year warranty and free premium delivery.

4. DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress: £966

4. DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress: from £966 £375 at DreamCloud
I've just finished testing the DreamCloud Hybrid mattress and think it's a fantastic option for those on a smaller budget. In my DreamCloud Hybrid mattress review, I found the bed to be supportive and comfortable for all different sleeping types, as well as particularly supportive in the lumbar region. This excellent lumbar support means the mattress is great for helping with back pain and supporting back and lighter stomach sleepers, while the cushioning foams mean side sleepers should also be comfortable on it. I did feel that heavier bodies might not find it supportive enough though. Temperature regulation and edge support were both fantastic - there was the smallest amount of motion transfer, but I think you'd have to be a very light sleeper to be disturbed by it. DreamCloud mattresses have an evergreen discount on them, meaning a double always costs £525. However, DreamCloud have added in a free bedding set worth up to £194 for Black Friday and you'll also get the benefits of a 365-night trial, forever warranty and free named day shipping.

5. Origin Hybrid Mattress: £515

5. Origin Hybrid Mattress: from £515 £309 at Origin
With a double currently selling for £379 in the Black Friday sales, the Origin Hybrid mattress is another great pick for those on a budget. In my Origin Hybrid mattress review, I rated the mattress highly for its proprietary HexaGrid orthopaedic layer that's zoned to give extra support in the centre third of the mattress. The Origin is ideal for back and stomach sleepers, along with heavier bodies, but it is too firm for side sleepers - Origin rate the mattress at 6-7 out of 10, but we felt it was nearer to an 8. Motion isolation and temperature regulation on the mattress were excellent but edge support was a little disappointing. You'll also get a 200-night trial with the Origin, along with a 10-year warranty and free delivery.

Jo Plumridge
Mattress tester and sleep writer

Jo Plumridge is an experienced mattress reviewer with several years' experience covering all things mattresses and sleep, and who tests memory foam, hybrid and organic mattresses. What Jo doesn't know about a boxed mattress isn't worth knowing, so naturally we tasked her with producing a series of features for Tom's Guide looking at all aspects of mattresses, from how to pick between latex and memory foam (it's a tricky one), to the seven mistakes people make when buying a mattress for the first time. When testing the DreamCloud Luxury Hybrid for Tom's Guide, Jo said: "I loved the back support and pressure relief it offered. Plus, it looks far more expensive than it is." When she isn’t writing about sleep, Jo also writes extensively on interior design, home products and photography.
