DreamCloud and Helix both produce high quality mattresses that are vacuum compressed and sealed in a box for easy transportation, and the two hybrids we're comparing below are no exception.
The DreamCloud Hybrid and Helix Midnight Luxe are the most popular mattresses from each brand — but which one is more suited to your sleeping style? In this comparison we’ll put the two head-to-head to help you decide which to invest in.
Both feature in several of our guides to finding you the right mattress for your needs, including our guide to the best mattress for all sleep styles and budgets. Among our praise for each, we noted the DreamCloud Hybrid's comfort, support, excellent motion isolation and value for money, and the chiropractor-approved Helix Midnight Luxe's excellent pressure relief for side sleepers and its enhanced lumbar support.
We rate both among the best mattresses in a box you can buy. However, although they are each of hybrid construction, their differing designs and firmness feel makes them best suited to different types of sleepers. There's also a difference in price. At full MSRP these mattresses would be considered premium purchases, but a permanent discount on the DreamCloud takes it down to the upper mid-range. While the upcoming Presidents’ Day mattress sales mean there's 27% off the Midnight Luxe, it's still the more expensive bed. So which is right for you? Let’s find out more…
DreamCloud Hybrid vs Helix Midnight Luxe Mattress: Price & Trial
- MSRP of the DreamCloud has increased, but evergreen sale brings a queen down to $665
- There’s currently a 27% discount on the Helix Midnight Luxe with our exclusive code TOMS27
- The DreamCloud has a 365-night trial whereas the Helix only offers 100 nights
Although the DreamCloud and the Helix are both luxury mattresses, the DreamCloud’s permanent discounts take it down into the mid-range price bracket. Evergreen DreamCloud mattress deals take a queen down to $665 from $1,613 (the brand describe this as 'total value') - a discount that has been in place since April 2024. You’ve also got the option to add in a heavily discounted bedding bundle (now $159, MSRP $599) consisting of two pillows, a sheet set and a mattress protector.
Likewise, the Helix Midnight Luxe is never sold at full MSRP. You’ll generally find between 20-25% off in the Helix mattress sales but our exclusive TOMS27 discount will give you 27% off the mattress, taking a queen size down to $1,732 (MSRP $2,373). You’ll also get an entire bedding included with your purchase.
Benefits wise, the DreamCloud far outdoes the Helix, with a 365-night trial, lifetime warranty and free shipping and returns. In comparison, the Helix only offers a 100-night trial and 15-year warranty, although you will also get free shipping.
DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress: was from $1,148 $449 at DreamCloud
Always discounted, you shouldn’t ever need to pay full MSRP for the DreamCloud Hybrid. Currently a queen-size mattress is reduced to $665 (from a total value of $1,664) which is an excellent price for a mattress that offers a high-quality, comfortable sleep. Extras are good, with a 365-night trial, lifetime warranty and free shipping. As this is a year round discount, we don’t expect to see prices drop any lower for Presidents’ Day.
Helix Midnight Luxe: was from $1,373.75 £1,002.84 at Helix
The Helix Midnight Luxe is a medium-firm mattress that’s been specifically designed for side sleepers. Again, it’s never sold at full MSRP and our exclusive code, TOMS27, will take 27% off for Presidents’ Day. This takes a queen down to $1,732 (was $2,373). Extras aren’t quite as good as DreamCloud though, with a 100-night trial, lifetime warranty and free shipping.
DreamCloud Hybrid vs Helix Midnight Luxe Mattress: Materials & Design
- The DreamCloud is 12” high and has six layers, along with a top and bottom cover
- The Helix Midnight Luxe is 13.5” high and has five layers, along with a top cover
- Both mattresses employ a hybrid design
Both of these beds are featured in our guide to the best hybrid mattresses, but they differ somewhat in height and design.
The DreamCloud mattress has a 12" profile that starts with a breathable quilted cashmere cover, which helps to wick away moisture. Gel memory foam is also quilted into the cover to give more contouring around pressure points. Underneath the cover you’ll find a layer of quilted supportive foam, followed by a layer of therapeutic gel memory foam for pressure relief.
Next comes a transition layer of foam, which sits on top of the individually wrapped coils, followed by a base layer of high density foam for stability and support. The mattress also has a non-slip base cover that helps keep it in place on your bed base.
The 13.5" Helix Midnight Luxe is specifically designed for side sleepers, and comes with a breathable, hypoallergenic Tencel cover, with the option to upgrade to a GlacioTex cover for extra cooling. You’ll see the latter fabric in some of the best cooling mattresses. Beneath the cover is a premium quilted pillow top that’s sewn directly into the top of the mattress for a plush and soft feel.
Underneath that is a layer of responsive polyfoam (here, you have the option to upgrade to an optional ErgoAlign layer, designed by Helix to offer even more support around the lumbar region), followed by a layer of copper gel memory foam, both designed to contour to your body and provide support. Next up, is a transition layer of memory foam, which sits on a layer of individually wrapped coils. These are firmer around the lumbar and edges of the mattress. Finally, there’s a dense foam base layer for support.
DreamCloud Hybrid vs Helix Midnight Luxe Mattress: Comfort & Support
- DreamCloud rate its mattress at 6.5/10 on the firmness scale, but we felt it was nearer 8/10
- The Helix Midnight Luxe is a medium firm mattress, rated at 6/10
- Both mattresses are good choices for those who experience back pain
You’ll also find both the DreamCloud Hybrid and Helix Midnight Luxe featured in our best mattresses for back pain guide. However, they appear there for different reasons.
When we tested the DreamCloud Hybrid, we rated it highly for its ability to adapt quickly to the lumbar region, offering superb pressure relief and helping to ease away aches and pains. Although DreamCloud rate the mattress at 6.5/10 we felt it slept firmer and rated it as nearer to 8/10. This firmer support is undoubtedly what helps to keep the spine aligned and supported on this bed. It’s a great all-rounder but side sleepers may find it needs a little time to mold to the body, while lightweight side sleepers might just always find it a touch too firm.
In our Helix Midnight Luxe mattress review, we rated the bed as the best mattress for side sleepers that you can currently buy, with the plush pillow top in particular delivering outstanding pressure relief when you’re sleeping on your side.
Said cushioning pillow top helps to prevent pressure points building up at the hips and shoulders but, underneath this, the mattress is fairly firm thanks to reinforced coils and copper-infused memory foam. These work together to keep the spine aligned and lumbar region supported, and prevent too much sinkage.
We also noted that it was possible to sleep on the entire surface of the bed and still feel supported, likely due to what the brand describes as the bed's full perimeter edge support. Our testers also found the Helix supportive enough for sleeping on their back, but it is too soft to support stomach sleepers and those of a heavier build.
DreamCloud Hybrid vs Helix Midnight Luxe Mattress: Temperature Control
- The DreamCloud has a breathable cover, gel memory foam and well-spaced coils for airflow
- The Helix Midnight Luxe also has a breathable cover and well-spaced coils, along with copper-infused foam
- There’s the option to upgrade to a GlacioTex cooling cover with the Helix
The DreamCloud Hybrid mattress scored highly when it came to temperature regulation, with even our hottest sleepers finding it surprisingly good at keeping them cool at night. While it isn't a dedicated cooling mattress, there is some temperature regulating tech in the DreamCloud in the form of a gel-infused layer designed to help dissipate body heat, along with a breathable cashmere cover and well-spaced coils to promote airflow.
The Helix Midnight Luxe has a breathable Tencel cover, along with coils to promote airflow and a layer of copper-infused foam (copper helps to draw heat away from the body). However, if you are a particularly hot sleeper, we’d recommend upgrading to the GlacioTex cover, which will wick away any heat or moisture while you sleep. However, the standard version did keep our testers cool and comfortable overnight.
DreamCloud Hybrid vs Helix Midnight Luxe Mattress: Which should you buy?
Buy the DreamCloud Hybrid if…
✅ You’re on a tighter budget: It’s still a mid-range mattress, but with its permanent discount the DreamCloud is considerably cheaper than the Helix.
✅ You’re of a heavier build: We gave the DreamCloud a firmness rating of 8/10, and feel it's able to support larger builds without sleepers sinking too far into the mattress.
✅ You sleep on your back: Although it’s comfortable for all sleeping positions, back sleepers in particular should find the DreamCloud extremely supportive around the lumbar region.
Buy the Helix Midnight Luxe if…
✅ You’re a side sleeper who enjoys a firmer feel: Although the Helix Midnight Luxe is specifically designed for side sleepers, it’s a medium firm mattress. This means it will be firmer than a lot of mattresses designed for side sleepers, but does allow the mattress to offer excellent lumbar support.
✅ You want excellent edge support: The Helix is reinforced around all four of its edges, meaning you can sit comfortably on any side of the bed. It also allows you to stretch out in bed and take full advantage of the width.
✅ You want more cushioning: Yes, the Helix is firmer than many mattresses designed for side sleepers but it’s still softer than the DreamCloud and you will have more cushioning at your pressure points.

When testing the DreamCloud Luxury Hybrid for Tom's Guide, Jo said: "I loved the back support and pressure relief it offered. Plus, it looks far more expensive than it is."
