DreamCloud vs Nectar Premier Hybrid: Materials & Design

  • The DreamCloud Hybrid is 12” with eight layers (including bottom cover)
  • The Nectar Premier Hybrid is 13” with six layers (including bottom cover)
  • Both beds are hybrids featuring foam and coils

The DreamCloud Hybrid and Nectar Premier Hybrid are hybrid beds that bring together memory foam and coils for plenty of comfort and support, and they're great options if you're looking for the best mattresses in a box that you can buy right now.

The DreamCloud Hybrid has a 12” profile and has eight layers starting with a breathable cashmere cover. Next is a layer of quilted gel memory foam layer, followed by a layer of supportive foam and then a further a gel-memory foam layer.

A transition layer follows on before a layer of individually wrapped coils with additional edge support, and a base layer of high-density foam for extra stability and support. The mattress is finished off with a heavy-duty non-slip bottom cover to keep all the layers in place.

The Nectar Premier Hybrid follows a similar construction, albeit with fewer foam layers. It’s an inch thicker at 13” high and starts off with a soft fabric cover that has cooling fibers.

Next is layer of pressure-relieving memory foam followed by a responsive support foam layer. Under that is an 8" layer of individually wrapped innerspring coils before a layer of foundation foam, while it's all encased in a durable bottom cover to protect the layers.

DreamCloud vs Nectar Premier Hybrid: Comfort & Support

  • Both beds have a medium-firm feel
  • The DreamCloud has good edge support
  • The Nectar Premier Hybrid excels at motion isolation

The DreamCloud is a medium-firm mattress which is rated as a 6.5 out of 10, however during our DreamCloud mattress review our tester found it felt a lot firmer placing it more around the 8 out of 10 mark.

However, it's worth noting that DreamCloud design has changed slightly since we reviewed it (with four foam layers above the springs instead of three), but we expect this to only make minor changes to the experience we had.

This mattress does a great job of alleviating aches and pains, making it a more affordable option if you're looking for one of the best mattresses for back pain. Whilst it’s a good fit for all sleeping styles, back and stomach sleepers will find it more comfortable as it keeps the spine perfectly aligned.

The DreamCloud Hybrid also adapts quickly and there’s plenty of lumbar support and pressure relief. Side sleepers who are used to sink-in softness may take some time to get used to this bed but there is plenty of cushioning around the shoulders and hips to keep them comfortable.

The Nectar Premier Hybrid is also classed as a medium-firm mattress and during our Nectar Premier Hybrid Mattress review, our testers found that it was pretty accurate. This mattress offers the right amount of contouring to cradle pressure points whilst still offering enough support to keep the spine aligned, and our reviewer rated it for providing plenty of support for his lower back, and area in which he had been prone to pain.

When we reviewed this mattress we felt it was is better suited to side sleepers, though with enough support for back sleepers to be comfortable. Stomach sleepers, however, may find this bed too soft and too much sinkage. Since our review Nectar has reduced the number of foam layers in this bed, with there now being only two foam layers between the cover and springs, instead of three.

Both beds did really well in our motion isolation tests, so if you’re sharing a bed with a restless partner you won’t get disturbed. The edge support is where these beds differ, the DreamCloud Hybrid has great edge support, a big bonus for those who like to sleep close to the edge or sit on the side and get ready. The Nectar Premier Hybrid, meanwhile, isn't too bad along the center and sides, but we found that the edges and corners dipped quite badly when pressure is applied.

DreamCloud vs Nectar Premier Hybrid: Temperature Regulation

  • The DreamCloud has a breathable cover and gel-memory foam to help keep sleepers cool
  • The Nectar Premier Hybrid has cooling fibers in the cover
  • Both mattresses have coils for extra airflow

Both of these mattresses scored highly when it came to temperature regulation. The DreamCloud has some cooling tech in the form of a breathable cashmere cover to wick away moisture and gel-infused memory foam layers to dissipate heat. The individually wrapped coils are also well spaced so they help to improve the airflow within the mattress.

The Nectar Premier Hybrid we reviewed also impressed our testers. The breathable cover includes cooling fibers which help to dissipate the heat and the thick coil layer ensures plenty of air flows though and heat doesn’t get trapped within the memory foam layers.

Whilst these mattresses do a good job of keeping temperatures neutral, if you’re a really hot sleeper then you may want to consider one of the best cooling mattress instead.
