Tom's Guide Verdict
The Casper Hybrid Pillow with Snow Technology checks all of the boxes. It’s a cooling pillow that's actually cool to the touch. It's incredibly supportive, soft but not too soft, as a result of a design that includes both foam and fiber. It offers just the right level of support to keep the head and neck in alignment. It does it all. Side and combination sleepers, along with hot sleepers, will find it most suitable, and back and stomach sleepers may also enjoy the medium loft.

The Casper Hybrid Pillow with Snow Technology is about as close to perfect as a pillow can get. It combines foam and fiber to create a soft, cushy pillow that is also supportive of the head and neck. Also, its AirScape foam is breathable, and the cover is cool to the touch, helping eliminate uncomfortable night sweats.
The Casper Hybrid Snow Pillow is a mid-loft pillow best suited to side and combination sleepers, but back and stomach sleepers may like it as well.
Sure, if you like fluffy pillows, this may not be the ideal choice. It’s on the squishy side, designed to bounce back when pressure is removed, a long way away from the yielding sink of a fluffy pillow. But we're pretty sure you could be convinced.

Casper Hybrid Pillow with Snow Technology: Review in brief
The Casper Hybrid Pillow with Snow Technology is an unusual thing, as first demonstrated by its rounded – instead of squared-off – edges. Even this small modification makes a difference, being less likely to poke you in the eye.
The Hybrid Snow Pillow is a squishy pillow that has a soft and spongy feel, a design which helps this pillow be quite supportive. It has a hybrid construction, combining fiber for flexible comfort with ultra-soft foam for support. The result is altogether huggable.
This employs AirScape foam, a breathable material which doesn’t trap heat. This results in a cool pillow that I find regulates my body temperature so I don’t wake up covered in sweat – regardless of the season. In fact, it’s one of the few pillows that's actually cool to the touch.
The mid-loft shape, with its 2-inch gusset, provides just the right level of support for side sleepers, although it's not exclusively for the side – back and stomach sleepers may enjoy it as well. And since the materials are breathable, it’s ideal for hot sleepers.
Also, since the outer cover can also be removed and tossed into the washing machine, the pillow is easy to care for.
I’d recommend the Casper Hybrid Pillow with Snow Technology for side sleepers (and some stomach and back sleepers who prefer a mid-loft instead of a low loft), as well as those who sleep hot.
Casper Hybrid Pillow with Snow Technology: Was $149 now $134.10) at Casper
The standard size of the Casper Hybrid Pillow with Snow Technology is also at Amazon for a sale price of $127 as we write. The pillow has a mid-loft, and a 2-inch gusset. It’s best suited for side sleepers and combination sleepers, but could also work for back and stomach sleepers. In addition, it's a great choice for those who sleep hot.
Casper Hybrid Pillow with Snow Technology: Price and deals
A standard size Casper Hybrid Pillow with Snow Technology is $149. At the time of review, I was able to find it on sale for $134.10 directly from Casper. The king size pillow is $179, and can be had for a sale price of $161.10.
Casper also makes a variety of other pillows. Fiber choices include the Original, Essential, Essential Cooling, and Down pillows. The company also makes a regular Foam pillow, and a Foam Snow pillow. It also makes a regular Hybrid Pillow.
You may be tempted to check out the other options, as the Casper Hybrid Pillow with Snow Technology is by far the most expensive pillow that Casper makes. Indeed, it's one of the most expensive pillows on the market.
A comparable option is the Purple Harmony Pillow, which, at $199, is even more expensive. However, Purple's pillow can sometimes be found on sale for $159. Like the Casper Hybrid Snow Pillow, the Purple Harmony Pillow is squishy and supportive, and never loses its shape. It’s also a cooling pillow that wicks moisture away from the body. Like the Casper pillow, it's available in both standard and king sizes. Unlike the Casper, it comes in a choice of three lofts, which makes it more suitable for all sleepers.
Another option is the Pluto Pillow, which is custom made to your specification. Buyers complete a questionnaire, and the pillow they receive is based on sleep position, mattress firmness, and also customized based on hot or regular sleepers, and a preference for a smooth or quilted surface. Regardless of preferences, all of Pluto's pillows are made of breathable foam, and they’re springy with good bounce back. The cover is also removable and washable. The Pluto Pillow is also significantly less expensive than the Casper Hybrid Pillow with Snow Technology.
Casper Hybrid Pillow with Snow Technology: Design and materials
- Foam and fiber combine to be comfortable and supportive
- AirScape foam and HeatDelete bands are breathable and cool
- Cover can be laundered in the washing machine
The Casper Hybrid Pillow with Snow Technology is made with what the company calls AirScape Technology. This consists of perforations designed to help circulate air.
In addition, it includes Casper's Snow Technology, which uses HeatDelete Bands in the pillow to pull heat and humidity from the head and neck areas for over 12 hours. All of this is covered with a removable, washable CoolTouch cover, which adds yet another layer of coolness. That's a lot of branded tech, but it does work together in harmony.
Since the pillow is constructed of three layers of foam as well as fiber, it provides the best of both worlds. The fiber provides softness for a comfortable feel, which the 2-inch gusseted foam is designed to be supportive and keep the head and neck in alignment. As a result, the pillow feels extremely comfortable and breathable.
Unlike some of Casper’s other pillows, this one does not come in a choice of lofts.
Casper Hybrid Pillow with Snow Technology review: Performance
- Comfortable
- Cooling
- Supportive
For over two weeks, I slept on a pair of these to see how the Casper Hybrid Pillow with Snow Technology fared. I tested for setup, comfort, support, and temperature regulation. I also slept in side, back, and stomach positions to see if the performance was the same. Here’s how I got on...
Setup
My review pair of Casper Hybrid Pillow with Snow Technology Pillows arrived in a single branded box. I’m not usually a fan of branded boxes, since they tend to advertise what’s inside - I’m always thankful when these boxes safely reach their destination.
The box arrived in good condition. Inside were two individual boxes, each containing an individually wrapped pillow protected by a layer of plastic, and shrink-wrapped in a second layer of plastic.
After cutting open the shrink-wrap, the pillow started to immediately expand.
Unlike some pillows that take 30 minutes or more to fully regain their shape, the Casper Hybrid Pillows with Snow Technology reached their original size in a matter of seconds.
Also, thankfully, there was none of the off-gassing odors experienced with some shrink-wrapped pillows.
Our score: 5 out of 5 stars
Temperature regulation
I routinely review pillows that are cool, but not like this. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the Casper Hybrid Pillows with Snow Technology were actually cool to the touch.
The combination of AirScape foam and HeatDelete bands creates a breathable and cooling pillow that allows heat to escape instead of building up. I tend to sleep hot, and there's a reason I jumped at the chance to review these pillows.
The temperature-regulating feature is exactly as advertised, and kept me perfectly cool during the testing period. I slept on the pillows during a warm season, and I tend to keep my AC on 76 degrees F at night. So, if the pillows or bedding are hot, I’ll wake up hot. However, that never happened with these pillows.
They're so adept at cooling, in fact, that I've had to break the Tom's Guide rating system.
Our score: 5.5 out of 5 stars
Firmness and support
The Casper Hybrid Pillow with Snow Technology offered me just the right level of firmness and support. I tend to prefer thick, high-loft pillows, yet I was pleasantly surprised that this less lofty pillow was able to provide both luxurious comfort and a very supportive experience.
I’m a combination sleeper. I alternate between sleeping face down, and sleeping on my side. In either position, the pillows proved quite comfortable. I also slept on my back (even though that’s not a natural position for me) and found the Casper Hybrid Snow Pillow to be supportive and comfortable in that position.
Sometimes I even propped the pillows behind my back when sitting in bed to watch TV, and they were comfortable while supporting my back in this position as well.
The comfortably-firm pillows are springy and retain their shape, so I never had to refluff them. The 2-inch gusset in the pillows provided a loft that was high enough to keep my head and neck in alignment, and I never experienced any aches or pains.
Our score: 5 out of 5 stars
Casper Hybrid Pillow with Snow Technology review: User reviews
On Amazon, the Casper Hybrid Pillow with Snow Technology has 309 ratings with an average rating of 4.2 stars. Many reviewers highly recommend the pillow, saying it's comfortable and provides good neck support. Among the handful of negative reviews were comments that the pillow is too thick, and doesn't have a high enough loft.
On the Casper website, the pillow has 60 reviews with a 4.5 star rating. Buyers call the pillow “magical,” and worth the high price. Among negative reviews, some buyers say the pillow is too stiff, or too thick.
Should you buy the Casper Hybrid Pillow with Snow Technology?
Yes, yes, yes. The Casper Hybrid Pillow with Snow Technology is one of the best pillows that I’ve tested.
The combination of fiber and foam provides a squishy soft yet supportive experience, while the cooling features regulate my body’s temperature and keep me from getting hot. Since the outer cover is machine washable, it’s easy to keep the pillow clean, too.
If its specific makeup doesn't suit your tastes, that's OK too. The Purple Harmony pillow is a comparable option and another one of my favorites, available in three lofts but more expensive than the Casper. Also consider the custom-made Pluto Pillow, which is customized to fit your sleep style and significantly cheaper than the Casper Hybrid Snow Pillow.
Even having offered other options, I still recommend the Casper Hybrid Pillow with Snow Technology. It's just so cool.
