Looking for a smart mattress that does it all, and then some? The Bryte Balance smart bed and iSense Premier Hybrid smart mattress are both great options, offering integrated sleep tracking and specialized adjustable comfort settings for each side of the bed.
The Bryte Balance features in our guide to the best smart beds and mattresses of the year, thanks to additional (and luxurious) smart features like its massage function, sleep audio and a comfort range of 0-100 for a truly customized sleep feel.
However, when paired with a smart base, the iSense offers sonic massage to promote muscle recovery, plus a zero gravity function for the ultimate in pressure relief.
At $3,999 each for a queen and both boasting comfort comparable with the best mattresses of the year for all sleepers, it's difficult to set these two smart beds apart.
Here we’ll compare both models in terms of price, design, support, comfort, temperature regulation and smart functionality to help you decide which mattress to shop in this month's mattress sales. Let’s dive in...
Bryte Balance vs iSense Hybrid Premier: Price & Trial
- The Bryte is $3,999 for a queen at full MSRP
- The iSense is also $3,999 for a queen, but currently on sale for $3,199
- Both have a 10-year warranty but the iSense has a longer sleep trial
Most smart bed systems are not complete mattresses; they are smart mattress covers or bed bases that require you to purchase a mattress separately and still cost upwards of $1,500.
Considering you're getting a complete mattress with both Bryte and iSense, we think these brands offer reasonable value.
At MSRP, both mattresses in a queen size cost $3,999 as a stand alone purchase. However, the iSense is currently on sale for $3,199. If you want adjustable positioning and anti-snore response, you can add an adjustable bed base.
An iSense Elite Adjustable Base is up to $642 off now, reducing the extra cost to $1,454 (was $1,818). This makes the total cost of a queen $4,653. On the other hand, bundling up with the Bryte Premium Adjustable Base adds $1,199, making the total cost of a queen $5,198.
The Bryte and iSense sit the mid-range price bracket in comparison with other smart beds with similar features. For reference, a Sleep Number i8 smart bed with a FlexFit1 adjustable base is cheaper at $4,168 now.
Alternatively, a Eight Sleep Pod 4 Ultra (which comes with a smart mattress cover and bed base but no actual mattress) is $4,549 for a queen size now.
Both brands offer a 10-year warranty and free delivery. However, iSense has a longer sleep trial; 180 nights compared to 100 nights at Bryte.
Bryte Balance smart bed: from $3,999 at Bryte
The Bryte Balance is a premium mattress packed with smart technology to help you get quality sleep. In our Bryte Balance hands-on mattress review, our lead tester said the Bryte Balance exceeded all of her lofty expectations, and for this you can't expect a cheap price tag. It sits at MSRP now in all three sizes. This means a queen will set you back $3,999 (plus $1,199 for an adjustable base) and a king and Cal king will both cost $4,699 (plus $1,499 for an adjustable base).
iSense Hybrid Premier smart mattress: from $3,199 at iSense
The iSense combines the support and comfort of a premium hybrid mattress with the innovative technology of smart beds. Prices range between $3,199 and $4,999 at MSRP with a queen size at $3,999. The good news is there's a hefty 50% off a compatible iSense Elite Adjustable Bed Base now, knocking a queen size from $1,818 to $909 — we think that's super value on a complete smart bed set up.
Bryte Balance vs iSense Hybrid Premier: Materials & Design
- The Bryte is built with foams and air modules
- The iSense has foams, coils and air cylinders
- You can add an adjustable base to each mattress
The 14" Bryte Balance Smart Bed features up to 90 foam-wrapped air modules that respond to your body. The modules are split down the middle to accommodate each side of the bed and further arranged into eight zones each side, making subtle, targeted adjustments throughout the night.
They're powered by a series of silent pneumatics, which are located in a box at the base of the bed. This box also houses the computer and sensors that track your sleep metrics. All this is wrapped up in a plush knit cover, beneath which there is a layer of buoyant foam too.
On the other hand, the iSense Hybrid Premier has a similar build to all all the best hybrid mattresses we've tested this year, with the addition of smart technology. The brand has also run tests, showing how their smart mattress isolates motion better than leading smart mattress brands like Sleep Number.
There's a spandex fabric cover, gel foam, solid base foam, 580 pocketed coils and 14 small air cylinders nestled in the brand's signature foam that, similarly to the Bryte, adjust through the night to keep you supported.
You can add a metal adjustable bed base to either of these smart mattresses to really elevate your sleep experience.
Bryte Balance vs iSense Hybrid Premier: Comfort & Support
- Both feature dual customizable firmness and active pressure relief
- The Bryte has a 0-100 comfort range, while the iSense has 20 comfort settings
- Each mattress makes micro-adjustments as you move through the night
The USP of both these smart mattresses is their dual adjustable firmness offering. This means you can manually adjust the firmness level on each side of the bed so you and your partner can find your ideal sleep comfort based on your individual sleep style and body weight without disagreements.
The Bryte Balance has a 0-100 comfort range allowing you to adjust the feel of your bed from firm to medium and soft. Meanwhile, there are 20 comfort settings per side of the iSense Hybrid Premier.
This makes both these smart mattresses great mattresses for back pain as you can find the exact firmness level providing the right balance of support and contouring.
Plus there's active pressure relief in both mattresses, meaning your bed tracks your movements through the night and adjusts the feel in certain areas to prevent pressure building up in your joints.
The Bryte makes subtle micro-adjustments through the night, ensuring you remain supported without disruption. Similarly, the iSense has an instant support response. Coils react to pressure quickly, while the Comfort Control technology means comfort layers reshape as you move to keep you supported.
Bryte Balance vs iSense Hybrid Premier: Temperature control
- Neither have smart temperature control
- Unlike its previous model the new Bryte Balance has no cooling regulation
- The iSense features open-cell cooling gel foam
While the previous Bryte Restorative bed featured smart climate control, the Bryte Balance lacks any sort of temperature regulation. If you upgrade to the Bryte Balance PRO, you'll get cooling fibers woven into the cover, a feature more commonly found in the best cooling mattresses.
Compared to the Bryte Balance, the iSense is a better option for anyone looking to combat sleeping hot. It has more airflow thanks to the pocket coils and cooling gel open-cell foams for more breathability.
That said, if you're looking for a smart solution for your night sweats, that's sure to provide ample cooling relief, we recommend an Eight Sleep Pod as these are the smart beds that excel in temperature regulation.
They have a water based cooling system and track your body temperature through the night to keep you at an ideal sleep climate.
Bryte Balance vs iSense Hybrid Premier: Smart features
- Both have integrated sleep tracking
- When you add a smart base, the iSense offers sonic massage and zero gravity positioning
- The Bryte has in-bed motion relaxation and a silent wake feature
You can ditch the wearables with both these mattresses. The Bryte Balance and iSense Hybrid Premier have integrated sleep trackers that measure everything from your heart rate, sleep duration, sleep stages and sleep efficiency to give you a nightly sleep score.
This helps you understand more about what goes in your body overnight and how you can optimize your rest, which is a standard feature among smart beds.
The Bryte also has a BryteWaves feature offering multi-sensory relaxation. Via the Bryte app, there's a library of 15 immersive settings providing gentle, head-to-toe motion in the mattress with curated audio (played through your phone or speaker) to help you destress and unwind at bedtime.
It's when you add a smart bed base that the iSense gets super smart. With this addition, you'll get in-bed sonic massages, which uses sound waves to stimulate blood flow, promote healing and relieve muscle tension. Plus there's zero gravity positioning to help you find your ideal, pressure-free sleep position.
Bryte Balance vs iSense Hybrid Premier: Ease of use
- Both pair with a compatible app
- Neither requires a subscription fee
- Our Bryte reviewer and iSense users say set up is an easy process
You control the Bryte bed via the brand's app. This involves a brief set up process where you can customize your sleep preferences and access your Sleep Insights report.
This report will tell you about recalibrations made throughout the night to keep you supported and comfortable. Unlike with some smart beds like the Eight Sleep pods, there is no subscription fee for the Bryte app.
The iSense is also operated via a compatible app where you can control your comfort settings and learn more about your sleep metrics. Users at iSense say the bed is easy to install, even though you have to connect it to a pump and app and don't report any connectivity issues.
