Here's how you can make the most of all the new features and enhancements in Samsung's Galaxy Note 9.
How to Manually Adjust Aperture on the Galaxy Note 9's Camera
The Galaxy Note 9 has one of the Galaxy S9’s best camera features: a dual aperture that mechanically widens and narrows depending on the available light. In dim settings, the wider f/1.5 aperture lets in light to brighten photos, which is useful for shooting at night. In daylight, the aperture automatically adjusts to f/2.4 to capture details without blowing out the image.
Most people will never know that their phone’s aperture is mechanically switching between the two, but if you prefer, you can take your Note 9 into manual mode for full control. Here’s how.—Caitlin McGarry
1. Open the Camera app.
2. Swipe right on the menu bar at the top of the Camera preview until you see Pro mode. Tap Pro to unlock a suite of new options that will appear on the bottom of the live preview.
3. Tap the Aperture and Shutter Speed option, second from the left in the menu on the bottom of the preview.
4. Tap the Aperture, which you’ll see just above the bottom preview menu. Your two options are f/1.5 and f/2.4; there’s no way to adjust to a point between the two.
