Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge vs. Galaxy S25 Plus: Everything we know so far
Will a thinner design push out the Plus?

Even before the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge got a sneak preview in January, people have been drawing comparisons between Samsung's upcoming ultra-thin phone and the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
But as more details emerge about this upcoming device, a Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge vs. Galaxy S25 Plus comparison feels more apt.
While we still don't have the official word on Galaxy S25 Edge specs, the ones that have leaked out make the phone sound an awful lot like the middle option in Samsung's flagship lineup. The Edge and Plus are said to have similar screen sizes, matching chipsets and potentially even the same price.
The Galaxy S25 Plus already struggles to carve out its own space in Samsung's lineup. It has many of the same features as the standard Galaxy S25, but costs more. It's got a bigger screen, but so does the S25 Ultra, and that latter phone offers more premium capabilities than the Plus.
And now, potentially, there's another very similar model, but this one's even thinner — what's the Galaxy S25 Plus got to do to find its place in the world?
With the Galaxy S25 Edge launch potentially a month away, here's how that phone compares to the Galaxy S25 Plus, based on rumors surrounding the Edge and our own test results with the Plus. Perhaps this Galaxy S25 Edge vs. Galaxy S25 Plus match-up can help you decide which of Samsung's phones is the better fit for your needs.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge vs. Galaxy S25 Plus: Price and availability
Initial Galaxy S25 Edge pricing rumors painted a grim picture for the phone, with some speculating that it could cost as much as the $1,299 Galaxy S25 Ultra. As we've gotten close to a potential launch date for the phone, a new rumor has emerged suggesting the Galaxy S25 Edge would be closer in price to the Galaxy S25 Plus.
Samsung charges $999 for the base model of the S25 Plus, which comes with 256GB of storage. The Edge could either match that price or cost a little bit more, but the thinking is that the two devices will be very similar in terms of cost.
The Galaxy S25 Plus launched at the start of February along with the other Galaxy S25 models introduced at the same Galaxy Unpacked event where the Edge enjoyed its preview. Samsung has yet to set a launch date for the Galaxy Edge, though it's commonly assumed the device will appear at some point in the spring. Current rumors point to an April 16 launch event.
Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge vs. Galaxy S25 Plus: Design
Samsung removed much of the mystery surrounding the Galaxy S25 Edge when it showed off the device in January and then put it on display again during this month's Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona.
The phone matches the design of the Galaxy S25 Plus — and the rest of the Galaxy S25 lineup, really — but it's noticeably thinner.
Samsung has yet to reveal how thin, but the rumor mill has filled us in. The expectation is that the Galaxy S25 Edge will measure 5.84mm thick. To put that in context, the Galaxy S25 Plus offers a more conventional 7.3mm of thickness.
A 1.5mm difference may not sound like much. But Samsung is betting that people who value portability will prefer the Edge's more condensed size.
The Galaxy S25 Edge may weigh less, too. Rumors tip the phone to clock in at 162 grams or 5.71 ounces. That compares to 190 grams (6.7 ounces) for the Galaxy S25 Plus.
Some of that weight loss could be attributed to new materials being used for the Galaxy S25 Edge. Unlike the S25 Plus, which uses a glass back and aluminum frame, the Edge may turn to a ceramic back.
Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge vs. Galaxy S25 Plus: Display
Screen size could be very similar between the two Samsung phones. The Galaxy S25 Plus offers 6.7 inches of screen real estate, while the Galaxy S25 Edge is expected to deliver a 6.656-inch panel. That's just a rounding error away from offering the same-sized display.
There should be a minor difference between the two screens, though. Leaker Ice Universe, who has a pretty good track record with Samsung predictions, suggests that the bezels on the Galaxy S25 Edge will match those offered by the Ultra model. Those bezels are more narrow than what you get with the S25 Plus.
Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge vs. Galaxy S25 Plus: Cameras
Here's one area where the Galaxy S25 Plus should enjoy a notable advantage over the Galaxy S25 Edge. Like the other Galaxy S25 models, the Plus offers three rear cameras — specifically, a 50MP main shooter joined by a 12MP ultrawide camera and 10MP telephoto lens.
The Galaxy S25 Edge model that Samsung's been showing off only has two rear cameras. Presumably, it's scrapping the telephoto lens for space-saving reasons.
Samsung could make up for the missing third camera on the Galaxy S25 Edge by equipping the phone with a higher-resolution sensor for its main camera. Specifically, rumors tip the Edge to feature the same 200MP main camera found on the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
Potentially, that could allow the Galaxy S25 Edge to mimic a dedicated telephoto lens by cropping in on shots for close-ups. It may be a more limited approach than the 3x optical zoom supported by the Galaxy S25 Plus' dedicated telephoto lens, but it would give Galaxy s25 Edge users some zooming capabilities.
Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge vs. Galaxy S25 Plus: Performance
It sounds as if the Galaxy S25 Edge will be able to match the Galaxy S25 Plus in terms of performance, which is a relief.. Some initial speculation has the Edge using a less powerful chip than the rest of the Galaxy S25 lineup, as its thin design would leave much room for heat dissipation.
Now, though, it's commonly believed that the Galaxy S25 Edge will turn to the Snapdragon 8 Elite silicon found in other S25 models like the Plus.
Leaked benchmarks have the Galaxy S25 posting single and multicore scores of 2,969 and 9,486, respectively, in the Geekbench test that measures CPU performance. Those numbers are a little off the 3,141 and 10,153 results the Galaxy S25 Plus put up on the same test, but not dramatically so.
Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge vs. Galaxy S25 Plus: Battery life and charging
The Galaxy S5 Edge could have a hard time matching the Galaxy S25 Plus for battery life. The Plus uses a 4,900 mAh battery as its power source. That, along with the efficient Snapdragon 8 Elite, helped the Galaxy S25 Plus post an average of 16 hours and 55 minutes on our battery test, landing it a spot on our best phone battery life list.
Limited space inside the Galaxy S25 Edge may make it difficult to include such a big battery. Indeed, rumors have the phone turning to a 3,900 mAh power pack, which is smaller than even the 4,000 mAh cell inside the standard Galaxy S25.
Even with the benefit of a Snapdragon 8 Elite chip's power management features, the S25 Edge will have a hard time keeping up with the S25 Plus' longevity.
Charging speeds could differ as well. The Galaxy S25 Plus supports 45W wired charging, but according to regulatory filings, the Galaxy S25 Edge will top out at 25W speeds.
Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge vs. Galaxy S25 Plus: Software
The Galaxy S25 Plus debuted with Samsung's One UI 7 interface built on top of Android 15. It's easy to imagine that the Galaxy S25 Edge will, too, which will mean support for newly introduced features like the Now Brief screen that uses your personal information to bring customized actions to your attention.
It's also safe to assume that the same Galaxy AI capabilities you find on the Galaxy S25 Plus will be present and accounted for on the Edge.
Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge vs. Galaxy S25 Plus: Outlook
The arrival of the Galaxy S25 Edge will pose a bit of choice for fans of big-screen phones. Will they be swayed by the thinner, lighter design of the Galaxy S25 Edge? Or will the more flexible cameras and staying power of the Galaxy S25 Plus win the day?
It could come down to how closely the Galaxy S25 Edge's prices matches that of the Galaxy S25 Plus and whether there's much of a performance trade-off due to the thin design. If rumors of an April release for the Edge are accurate, we're not going to be waiting long to see how this Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge vs. Galaxy S25 Plus face-off plays out.
