At $1,799, the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold is Google's most expensive phone by far; encasing it in one of the best Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold cases ensures that your pricey phone won't fall to pieces the first time it slips out of your hands.

Based on our Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold review, there's plenty you'll want to protect with Google's latest foldable even if it has greater durability than its predecessor. The outer display has a more square aspect ratio, making it easier to use apps without opening up the phone. And when you do open up the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, you'll be treated to a larger, brighter display and some very amazing AI-powered features.

A phone like that needs protecting, and we've found the cases to do it. You may not see some of the eye-catching designs we tracked down for the best Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro cases, but we do have a wide selection of accessories that put one task front and center — making sure your Pixel 9 Pro Fold looks as good in the future as it did the first time you took it out of its packaging.

What to look for in a Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold case

Though the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold is a follow-up to the original Pixel Fold, don't think that a case from that older phone will work with the new model. Not only do Google's two foldables have different dimensions, the phone maker also changed up the design of the rear camera array for the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Look specifically for cases that fit this new design. (And if you still have the first Google Pixel Fold, our best Google Pixel Fold case round-up can help you find a good accessory for that phone.)

Searching for a case that fits a foldable phone takes additional factors into account that you may not consider for a more conventional handset. For starters, you'll want a precise fit, so it's best to consider accessories from case makers that have Made for Pixel certification. Looking for a case that doesn't leave the Pixel 9 Pro Fold's hinge exposed would also be a good starting point.

Otherwise, consider this criteria when looking for the best Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold case.

  • Drop protection: Since the whole point of adding a case to your phone is to make sure it doesn't get damaged by a fall, consider the case's listed drop-protection. Since most drops occur when the phone slips out of your hands, drop protection of around 4 feet would be the bare minimum to look for. Some cases offer even more — the Poetic Spartan lists 20-foot drop protection as a feature — but be advised that cases designed to survive bigger drops tend to take on bulk.
  • Price: In our research, we've come across cases that cost anywhere from $20 all the way up to $100. On average, you can expect to pay around $50 for a good Pixel 9 Pro Fold case.
  • Design: Foldable phone cases tend to be pretty utilitarian with not a lot of room for design flair. That said, we have found a few cases that offer more than just the standard black color options. Unlike conventional smartphones, you won't find a lot of foldable phone cases with kickstands since you can open the phone up or tent it for hands-free viewing.

How we pick the best Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold cases

In our initial search for best case candidates, we go by word of mouth and customer reviews to track down contenders, with an eye toward selecting phones in a wide range of prices. We take fit, weight and listed drop-protection into consideration when narrowing down our list. We may bring in cases to test individually to see if they live up to their claims.
