Leon Bailey is included in an attacking Aston Villa line-up, while Pau Torres makes his first start for the club at centre-back.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin is fit to start up front for Everton, who also hand a start to Ashley Young against his former club.
Both Aston Villa and Everton will be looking to bounce back from opening-day defeats when they go head-to-head in the English Premier League this weekend.
Villa were humbled at St James' Park last time out. A 5-1 loss to Newcastle United leaves them rock bottom of the early table. Villa were well in the game in the first half, but their high defensive line was expertly exploited by Newcastle after the break, resulting in a thrashing in week one. Unai Emery will have been busy working on the training field to tighten his team up this week.
As for Everton, they kicked off the new campaign with a 1-0 home loss to Fulham. The Toffees were made to pay for their profligacy in front of goal. Everton created the better chances on the day, but the lack of a ruthless edge inside the penalty area proved costly. Neal Maupay was particularly culpable but others fluffed their lines too, allowing Fulham to strike a late winner through Bobby Decordova-Reid.
After finishing seventh last season, Villa could be outsiders in the race for the top four this term. But the loss to Newcastle showed they are far from the finished product yet. They have also been dealt some early misfortune, with Emi Buendia and Tyrone Mings both suffering serious knee injuries that will keep the duo out until 2024.
Everton moved to bolster their attack with the signings of Jack Harrison and Youssef Chermiti in recent days, but they desperately need to get Dominic Calvert-Lewin fit again. If the striker endures another injury-hit season in 23/24, Everton will suffer massively. Sean Dyche will at least be pleased that his side was able to create chances against a Fulham team that finished in the top half of the Premier League last term.
