Editor's Note: Check out our Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro 360 hands-on review for our firsthand impressions of Samsung's latest 2-in-1, and our Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Ultra hands-on review for our report on Samsung's most powerful Galaxy Book yet.

The Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro was unveiled at Samsung's Galaxy Unpacked event February 1st alongside the rest of the Galaxy Book 3 lineup, including the Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro 360 and the Galaxy Book 3 Ultra.

This is right in line with Samsung's business strategy for the last few years, as it has traditionally launched a new Galaxy Book line of laptops in the first quarter of the year. There's typically a base Galaxy Book, a Pro model, and then convertible 2-in-1 versions like the Galaxy Book 2 Pro 360, one of the best 2-in-1 laptops of 2022.

This year a new model, the Galaxy Book 3 Ultra, was unveiled alongside the rest of the lineup. It's a premium version of the base Galaxy Book that packs a discrete GPU and more power under the hood, but otherwise resembles the rest of its siblings with their simple, streamlined designs.

The Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro will likely look a lot like its predecessor, the Book 2 Pro, but under the hood we expect some significant upgrades. Here's what we know so far.

Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro: Price and availability

The Samsung Galaxy Book3 Pro is available for order right now via Samsung’s website at a starting price of $1,249 for the 14-inch model and $1,319 for the 16-inch version. Both sizes are available in two colors, Beige and Graphite, and units are expected to start shipping on February 17.

Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro: Design

Samsung’s Galaxy Book3 Pro is the latest in a line of no-nonsense business laptops, and it’s once again available in two sizes. The one meaningful difference in features between sizes is that the 16-inch model has enough room to squeeze in a numeric keypad on the keyboard, while the 14-inch Galaxy Book3 Pro does not.

Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro

The smaller model with a 14-inch display measures 12.2 x 8.8 x 0.4 inches and weighs 2.4 pounds, while the larger 16-inch model measures 14 x 9.8 x 0.49 inches and weighs roughly 3.4 pounds. This makes the 14-inch Samsung Galaxy Book3 Pro actually a hair thinner than the Apple MacBook Air M2, which is just 0.44 inches thin.

Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro: Display

Whether you opt for the 14-inch or 16-inch version, the quality of screen you get is the same. Both sizes of Samsung Galaxy Book3 Pro 360 come with an AMOLED screen that can achieve a 120Hz refresh rate at up to 3K (2,880 x 1,880 pixels) resolution.

It’s not a touchscreen, unlike the displays on sibling 2-in-1 the Galaxy Book3 Pro 360. But it should be gorgeous, given that OLED screens typically deliver brighter brights, inkier blacks and more striking contrasts than more common LCD displays.

Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro: Ports

The Samsung Galaxy Book3 Pro has a sparse selection of ports on offer, but the necessities are covered.

Order this laptop and you get a pair of Thunderbolt 4/USB-C ports, one USB-A port, an HDMI 1.4 port, a microSD card reader and a 3.5mm audio jack.

Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro: Performance

The latest 13th Gen Intel Raptor Lake CPUs are on offer in the new Samsung Galaxy Book3 Pro, which should help it deliver better performance (and hopefully better battery life) than its predecessors.

Unfortunately, without an option to configure a Book3 Pro with a discrete GPU it likely can’t handle most demanding PC games. You’ll certainly be able to have some fun with it, but this is first and foremost a productivity device.

That said, Samsung has raised the RAM ceiling on this year’s model from 16GB to 32GB. So while the Galaxy Book3 Pro ships with 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM standard, the option to upgrade all the way to 32GB should make it feel like a snappy multi-tasking machine.

Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro: Webcam

Samsung has equipped the Galaxy Book 3 Pro with a 1080p webcam, just like on last year’s model.

We were satisfied but not particularly impressed with the quality of images captured by the 1080p webcams in Samsung’s earlier Galaxy Book laptops. Hopefully the company has made some improvements this time around, as so many of us still spend hours every week on video calls with friends and colleagues.

Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro: Outlook

Samsung's Galaxy Book laptops have improved in small but significant ways over the past few years, so the new Galaxy Book 3 Pro is no surprise.

While the design of the Galaxy Book Pro laptops has always kept them a bit farther from the spotlight than their flashier transforming siblings, they've traditionally been dependable ultraportables that are easy to carry and powerful enough for day-to-day work. A new Galaxy Book Pro 3 with the power of Intel's latest 13th Gen CPUs should set a new standard for productivity in the Galaxy Book portfolio, and that's worth getting excited about — especially if you're already enmeshed in Samsung's device ecosystem and are in the market for a new laptop.
