If you like the sound of the Saatva Classic but need something more affordable, we highly recommend the DreamCloud. This mid-range hybrid innerspring is $1,000 cheaper than the Classic, but punches well above its weight. We gave it an impressive four and a half out of five stars in our DreamCloud mattress review: it’s more comfortable, supportive, and well-made than any other mattress we've slept on in this price range, bar the Nectar Classic below — and it beats many more-expensive options. It doesn’t have a new discount in the Black Friday DreamCloud sale (it's been the same price all year, unless you choose the split king model, which has a new $100 price cut on top of the standard 50% discount), you’ll struggle to find better value for money. This is the best mattress in a box we’ve slept on. Yes, it doesn’t have quite the same luxury feel as the Saatva, and it did take us a few weeks to adjust because it’s on the firmer side of medium-firm. But once we did, it became one of the most comfortable mattresses we’ve tried. It’s also an excellent choice for heavier couples because its maximum weight capacity is 1,000lbs (compared to the Saatva’s 600lbs).

The Nectar Classic is the closest rival to the DreamCloud, and a better choice for anyone who wants to sink into their mattress and be hugged while they sleep (as opposed to sleeping near the surface). This Black Friday mattress deal isn’t new — you can buy a twin for $349 or a queen for $649 most months — but this mattress still undercuts nearly all its rivals on price. It’s the best memory foam mattress under $1,000 that we’ve tested, with excellent pressure relief and full-body support, plus surprisingly good cooling capabilities for an all-foam mattress — our hot-sleeping reviewer didn’t overheat once. As is becoming tradition, we did, very briefly, see it $50 cheaper in a flash sale at the start of November, but we don’t expect to see those prices returning today. Nectar hasn’t run flash-sale prices over Black Friday for the last few years. Like the DreamCloud, it comes with a 365-night trial period so you can make sure it’s right, and a lifetime warranty.

Brand new Black Friday mattress deal alert! We reported yesterday that the Siena had a $20 price cut at Siena... Well, today there's an even bigger $60 price cut over at Amazon, with a twin down to $169.15 (was $189 earlier this week) and a queen at $339.15. These are the lowest prices we've ever seen for this top-rated budget memory foam mattress. We gave it four out of five stars in our review, calling it a "brilliant budget mattress". Despite its low price, it doesn't feel cheap, with great temperature regulation (we tested the Siena during one of the hottest summers on record and didn't overheat), superb edge support, and minimal motion transfer. It's firmer than advertised though: we rate it 8 out of 10. Our testers adjusted to it over the one-month review period and found it to be comfortable, but don’t expect a traditional memory foam feel — there’s very little ‘hug’ here. If that’s what you’re after, choose the Zinus Green Tea Memory Foam below, instead.

This isn’t a new price for Black Friday: this entry-level all-foam mattress has cost $188.99 for a twin at Amazon for the last few months. But we’ve included it here because if you’re looking for a budget mattress, it’s good value for money and well worth considering. We reviewed a version of this mattress with the same three layers inside (memory foam, transition foam, base foam) — just a different cover — and awarded it three and a half out of four stars. The all-foam design is basic, but the sink-in memory foam layers provide a high level of pressure relief with enough support to keep side sleepers cradled throughout the night. Motion isolation is also excellent, but temperature control could be better (if you sleep really hot, try the Bear Elite Hybrid ($1,383 for a queen at Bear with code: TOMS40 instead) and edge support is weak, so watch out if you like to sleep close to the side of the bed. There are five different thicknesses, ranging from 5-12 inches, and in typical Amazon fashion you'll need to toggle between them to get the best deal. However, we don't recommend anything thinner than 10 inches for an adult.

It's not often we see Walmart's excellent own-brand mattress below $300, but the retailer's Black Friday sale drops a queen from $317 to $284 - that's $15 cheaper than Memorial Day. This is a top-class budget mattress. We gave it 4 out of 5 stars in our review: it delivers fantastic support and it's great at isolating motion, so you're less likely to notice a partner tossing and turning. Two of our testers were so impressed with The Allswell's feel and affordability that they decided to buy one to replace their sagging foam mattress at home. It's not the best choice if you suffer from back pain, and it's not great for anyone who weighs over 200lb — in both cases you’ll need a higher-quality mattress, like the DreamCloud above. Otherwise, the Allswell offers impressive performance for the price and we highly recommend it.

Offering a firm support core with decent pressure relief, the Siena is incredible value for a mattress of this quality. We were impressed with the motion isolation and temperature regulation during our Siena Memory Foam Mattress review and although at this price we doubt the long-term durability is excellent, we still think stomach sleepers will get a good few years out of it. We've hardly ever seen the price shift at Siena (for better or worse) so this Black Friday mattress deal at Amazon is something special — a queen is just $339.15, cheaper than its usual $399 sale price (and way down from the $769 "total value" on the Siena site).

The Premier Copper is an excellent choice for hot sleepers with its triple action cooling feature combining gel-memory foam layers with Active HD phase change material which reacts to your body temperature and a breathable copper cover which wicks away heat. This is a medium-firm bed which rates 6.5 out of 10 on the firmness scale and hence suits most sleepers who loves contouring comfort and adaptive support. This is the lowest price we have seen on Amazon for the Nectar Premier Copper where you can save up to $1,249 on a queen sized bed, with the MSRP dropping to $936.75. You can also enjoy a 365-night trial and lifetime warranty, so try out the bed risk-free.

3. Casper Snow Max: twin XL from $3,125 from $1,875 at Casper
We think this is a good cross between Casper's two popular mattresses. the Casper Snow and the Dream Hybrid. Compared to the other two memory foam cooling beds, this is a medium-firm mattresses with a 7-layer hybrid construction combining align memory foam, flex support coils and specialist cooling technology. This has twice the more HeatDelete bands than the base model along with the brand's signature Snow technology and a top layer of Soothe Memory foam preventing night-sweats. We recommend it most suitable for combination sleepers as it provides excellent support for all sleeping positions. Casper has now increased the Black Friday discount from 30% to 40% dropping the MSRP of a queen from $3,745 to $2,245 which is the cheapest price this year.

Sure, it's still pricey, but you'll be paying at least $1,000 less than you would for the latest Tempur-Breeze models. The squishy, dense surface of the Zinus Original eases around the joints providing cushioned pressure relief for side sleepers. In our Zinus Memory Foam Mattress review this gooey comfort stood out and while we wouldn't recommend it for stomach sleepers, it's a great value mattress for joint pain. Zinus rarely discounts this affordable mattress (any further, that is), but this Black Friday brings the lowest price we've seen for a queen in a long time — just $379. Although the MSRP is $599, it's typically sold at $399.

4. Nectar Luxe Mattress: twin from $1,696 now $999 at Nectar
This new high-end all-foam mattress from Nectar earned a perfect score from our testing team. In our Nectar Luxe mattress review, we praise its balanced medium-firm feel (particularly for side and back sleepers), deep pressure relief, and top-notch motion isolation. Although it's one of the brand's top-tier mattresses, it's much more affordable than many of its luxury rivals. A queen-size Nectar Luxe is on sale right now for $1,149 (MSRP $3,424) — and that includes an extra $100 off orders over $1,000, reflected in-cart. That's the best deal we've seen for this just-released mattress, and we don't see it lasting much longer.

However, we're pretty sure we'll see these prices again in the next sale, so don't feel you have to buy it right now.

It’s great for couples, hot sleepers, heavier bodies… Bear in mind that it feels a little firmer than medium firm at first, but all our reviewers soon adjusted and found it to be extremely comfortable and supportive. We can’t recommend this mattress highly enough.

This brilliant, budget organic latex mattress is $100 cheaper than in last year’s Black Friday mattress sales, with a twin down to $549 (was $649) and a queen at $849 (was $949). It’s the cheapest and most popular model in the luxury eco brand’s stable, and the latex foam layer works well with the individually wrapped innersprings to provide excellent support and pressure relief in all sleeping styles - we gave it 4.5 out of 5 stars in our review. Latex typically lasts longer than other mattress materials, so you shouldn’t need to replace this one for a while.

4. Cloverlane Hybrid Mattress: twin from $2,531 now $599 at Cloverlane
The Cloverlane Hybrid is Resident's answer to the popular Saatva Classic luxury innerspring hybrid at a lower price. Like its rival, the Cloverlane comes in three comfort levels — medium, firm, or extra firm — and includes free White Glove Delivery, a 365-night trial, and a lifetime trial. In our Cloverlane Hybrid Mattress review, we call it a good choice for sleepers with back pain thanks to the dedicated lumbar support and great pressure relief. The Nectar has long been one of our favorite all-foam beds and the recent redesign continued to impress our Nectar Mattress review panel. A good all-rounder that offers fantastic value for money, you can go ahead and ignore the "total value" at Nectar — this mattress is always sold at a discount. The $649 price for a queen is nothing unusual; apart from a few brief flash sales, it's stayed the same since earlier this year. However, Nectar has upped the ante by adding $100 off if you spend over $1,000. That brings a split king down to $999, instead of its usual $1,099 price tag.

3. Siena Memory Foam Mattress: twin from $529 now $189 at Siena
The Siena avoids many of the traps of cheap memory foam — primarily, overheating and a lack of support — instead offering a firmer feel that's perfect for back sleepers. Siena has increased its usual sale for Black Friday and a queen is now only $379, which is $20 cheaper than we're used to seeing it. And the benefits are excellent for a budget bed, with a 180-night trial and a 10-year warranty.

4. Nectar Original Memory Foam Mattress: twin from $499 now $296.65 at Amazon
If you don't mind buying a previous-gen model, this Nectar mattress deal is unmissable. A queen-size is now $551.65, which is a drop from its previous sale price of $649 and the lowest we've ever seen it. Before the Nectar Classic arrived, the Nectar Original topped our best memory foam mattress guide for a very long time — and we still think it's an excellent buy for budget shoppers. We haven't had a chance to test the recently launched Awara Natural Luxury Hybrid Mattress yet, but we did get our hands on the original Awara Natural Hybrid Mattress and praised its "superb build quality" and strong edge support. We expect this mattress to follow suit. Awara's up to 50% off sale is evergreen and they haven't announced anything special for Black Friday. While we haven't tried the Lux Estate, this luxury upgrade fixes one of the big issues we had during our Stearns & Foster Estate mattress review. Namely, a lack of medium feel. Where the Solaire excels is in adjustable firmness. It has 50 precise firmness options that enable you to customize the feel of this luxurious mattress, and is operated with a good, old-fashioned remote control. These features make it a great choice for less tech-savvy people who are kept awake by muscle pain. However, Black Friday isn't the best time to buy more expensive Saatva mattresses like the Solaire. Amazon: Linenspa, Zinus, and more in the Black Friday sale
Amazon is the land of cheap mattresses - it’s particularly good for a toddler beds, with six-inch twin mattresses from $76 (the Zinus Green Tea Memory Foam at $89, down from $104, is our top recommendation). But in addition to brands like Zinus, Linenspa and the Amazon Basics range, you'll also find cheaper older models from more recognizable brands such as Nectar, Casper and DreamCloud. One deal that's well worth a look is the now-retired Nectar Copper Premier mattress, which is around $200 cheaper at Amazon than it is at Walmart.

Best Buy: up to $400 off big-name mattress brands Best Buy’s Black Friday sale is packed with deals from the likes of Serta, Sealy, Casper and Nectar, plus there’s decent stock on some cheaper mattresses too from Linnespa and Lucid. If you don't mind getting an older mattress it's worth a look - we found some of the newer mattresses to be cheaper to buy directly from the manufacturer though (such as Tuft & Needle).

Macy's: up to 70% off older models from big-name brands
If you’re just looking for the biggest discount possible, try Macy’s. The retailer is well-known for its enormous discounts on older models (all year around, not just on Black Friday). Right now there’s up to $2,000 off - but make sure you read the terms and conditions properly and know the refund policy, especially if you're buying a mattress in a blow-out sale. These items can't usually be returned, so you'll need to be sure you like what you've chosen.

Walmart: budget mattresses from $75 for Black Friday
There's up to 60% off mattresses at Walmart right now, with big savings on cheaper mattress brands, such as Linenspa, Zinus, NapQueen and Novilla. One standout deal is the queen Linenspa Explorer 6-inch Firm Tight Top Innerspring Mattress for $98.88 at Walmart (was $269.99.) While that will be too thin to provide meaningful support for most adults, it's a good on an innerspring mattress for a child, teen or guest room. We also really like Walmart’s own mattress brand, Allswell - the flagship Hybrid model is around $30 cheaper than Memorial Day.
