Nectar mattress vs Purple: Which brand offers the best Labor Day deals?
Make sure you choose the perfect mattress this Labor Day
Labor Day sales have already started and both Nectar and Purple are already offering huge discounts on mattresses. In this Nectar vs Purple comparison, we’ll be looking at the key features of each mattress range to help you decide what to invest in during the sales.
Nectar and Purple make some of the best mattresses on the market, with plenty of options to choose from to suit a wide range of sleepers. As already stated, both brands already have deals available for the Labor Day mattress sales 2024, but are these the best deals you’ll find, or will savings increase nearer to September 2nd? Let’s take a closer look under the covers of both brands and find out more.
Nectar mattress vs Purple: Features, comfort, build
Both Nectar and Purple make a range of foam and hybrid mattresses, with the biggest difference being the inclusion of Purple’s proprietary GelFlex grid. This hyper-elastic and temperature neutral material instantly adapts to your body, providing both soft and firm support where needed. Purple include it in both its all-foam and hybrid mattresses. It’s an unusual feel though, that does take some getting used to.
Nectar mattresses follow a slightly more traditional design, using either all-foam or hybrid designs. The range has just been redesigned, with mattresses now including therapeutic memory foam for instant pressure relief and responsive contouring.
Both mattress brands offer great build quality and durable mattresses, along with trials and warranties. Nectar do however offer a much longer trial period (365 nights to Purple’s 100) and a lifetime warranty – Purple only offer a 10-year warranty.
Nectar:
- All-foam and hybrid mattresses available
- The Nectar Classic is our favorite all-foam mattress
- Plenty of gentle body contouring and ‘hug’ from Nectar’s memory foam
- Fantastic motion isolation
- Good relief for sore joints
- 365-night trial and lifetime warranty
Purple:
- All-foam and hybrid mattresses available
- Purple’s GelFlex grid adapts to the body, providing instant pressure relief
- One of the best mattresses for easing joint pain
- Excellent temperature regulation
- 100-night trial and 10-year warranty
Nectar mattress vs Purple: Which is best for you?
Although the Nectar mattresses do a great job of easing back and joint pain, the Purple Plus is one of our picks for best mattresses for back pain, with the GelFlex molding around the body to offer firm, yet cushioned support. The Nectar mattresses, particularly the all-foam versions, will appeal more to those who enjoy the classic memory foam ‘hug’, with the foam allowing sleepers to sink into the mattress for deep pressure relief.
For those looking for good motion isolation, the all-foam Nectar mattresses are hard to beat. Even the most restless partner shouldn’t disturb you at night. Motion support on Purple mattresses is also good, but the softer edge support means you could feel more movement at night.
Nectar mattresses offer a more traditional hybrid feel, with most of the range offering a medium firm feel. Purple mattresses are different to any other brand, with the mixture of firmness and softness where needed. Because of the unique feel of any mattress, the trial period is vitally important so that you can decide which mattress is right for you.
Nectar mattress vs Purple: Prices and Labor Day discounts
Both Nectar and Purple have gone early with Labor Day discounts. Nectar mattress sales are currently up to 40% off, but this is the brand’s evergreen offer and no different to the price drop offered at other times of the year. Nectar never sell its mattresses at full MSRP, so you shouldn’t expect to pay more whenever you buy. Having said all that, 40% off is still incredibly generous, taking a queen size Nectar Classic Memory Foam mattress down to $649. We don't expect to see anything better in the Nectar Mattress Labor Day sales, so now is a good time to shop.
Purple mattress sales are semi-frequent, but a bit harder to predict, so this early Labor Day sale (which is carrying on until September 10th) is definitely worth taking advantage of. There’s up to $700 off mattresses, which is the biggest discount we tend to see with the brand. Discounts are staged depending on which range you’re buying – a Purple Plus queen for example is $1,599.
Extras wise, Nectar outshines Purple here, with a 365-night trial and lifetime warranty. Purple only offer a 100-night trial and 10-year warranty. That’s perfectly acceptable but is obviously beaten by Nectar’s offers.

What Jo doesn't know about a boxed mattress isn't worth knowing, so naturally we tasked her with producing a series of features for Tom's Guide looking at all aspects of mattresses, from how to pick between latex and memory foam (it's a tricky one), to the seven mistakes people make when buying a mattress for the first time. When testing the DreamCloud Luxury Hybrid for Tom's Guide, Jo said: "I loved the back support and pressure relief it offered. Plus, it looks far more expensive than it is."
