Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Cloud Pillow hands-on review: cushioning for stomach sleepers
The Tempur-Cloud Pillow promises squishy comfort for back and stomach sleepers — here are my first impressions

The Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Cloud Pillow uses Tempur Material to create "cushion-soft" comfort for back and stomach sleepers. I've been sleeping on the Tempur-Cloud for a week now, and I've already formed a strong impression of this pillow.
Fill: Tempur Material
Best for: Back and stomach sleepers
Firmness: Medium-soft
Warranty: 5 years
MSRP: From $89 at Tempur-Pedic
The best pillows for your sleep style provide ample support to the head and neck. As a stomach sleeper, I'm picky about my pillows — I've woken up with neck ache one too many times to take a risk. But the Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Cloud Pillow places my head exactly where it needs to be, pairing a low height with squishy foams.
Tempur-Pedic mattresses are among the best mattresses we've tested, and the dense foams you'll find in a Tempur-Pedic bed are used in the Cloud pillow. Can they provide the same level of comfort? Here's what I've found after a week using the Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Cloud Pillow...
Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Cloud Pillow: Price & Trial
- One of Tempur-Pedic's more affordable pillows
- Regularly included in bundle deals
- Comes with a five-year warranty but no sleep trial
Tempur-Pedic has a diverse pillow line-up to suit a variety of sleep styles. The Tempur-Cloud, designed for stomach and back sleepers, sits at the lower end of the Tempur-Pedic price bracket, but it's still not cheap. At full MSRP, a queen will cost you $89, while a king size will set you back $109.
There are regular Tempur-Pedic mattress sales and pillows are often included in the fun. The most common deal offers a discount when you buy multiple pillows — we regularly see two queen pillows for $119, saving you $59.
But sometimes Tempur-Pedic offers a percentage discount, typically around 10% off. The best deal for you simply depends on how many pillows you need; dressing a whole bed? Take the multi-buy saving. Only want the one? Wait for a straight discount.
The Tempur-Cloud Pillow is also sold via various third-party retailers, including the Tempur-Pedic Amazon store. If there are no deals direct from Tempur-Pedic, look here, as we regularly spot discounts.
Tempur-Pedic offers a five-year warranty on the Tempur-Cloud, which is decent for a pillow. However, there's no trial period. This isn't that unusual for bedding, but we'd appreciate a testing period from an established brand like Tempur-Pedic.
Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Cloud Pillow: queen from $89 at Tempur-Pedic
The Tempur-Cloud is one of the least expensive pillows in the Tempur-Pedic line-up, and if you're buying more than one, you can often save with a bundle deal. If it's just the one pillow you need, consider waiting for the next 10% off sale, or checking a third-party site (Tempur-Pedic at Amazon often offers discounts.)
Unboxing my Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Cloud Pillow
- Arrives full size and wrapped in plastic
- Ready to sleep on right away
- No off-gassing
The Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Cloud Pillow is delivered in the traditional manner, meaning it's shipped flat and ready to sleep on. It's covered in plastic but not vacuum-packed, so it doesn't need to inflate and there's no off-gassing.
Thanks to the easy unboxing process, the Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Cloud Pillow was ready to be used as soon as it was out of the packaging. It also didn't need to be fluffed into shape — the material naturally maintains its correct form.
My first week sleeping on the Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Cloud Pillow
Night 1: Less cloud, more pancake
My first impression of the Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Cloud Pillow was that it was surprisingly flat. Stomach sleeper pillows are typically low loft (to prevent the neck twisting) but I was expecting something named after a cloud to have more 'puffiness'.
Especially as the squishy nature of the foam means when you press into the pillow, you can almost flatten it. I've always heard Tempur Material described as squishy, so I was expecting marshmallow soft from my pillow — and I wasn't disappointed.
However, I was worried that the pancake-like nature of the Tempur-Cloud Pillow would leave me unsupported. By the end of night one, I was reassured. While my head and shoulders weren't lifted, the dense foams still provided a cushioned barrier between me and my mattress.
Night 2-7:
The best mattresses for stomach sleepers support the natural curve of the spine, which becomes flattened in this unusual sleep position. In turn, a good stomach sleeper pillow should keep the head and neck low to align with the back.
This is what the Tempur-Cloud has achieved during the first week of testing. The low loft means my neck isn't forced upwards, allowing my muscles to relax. I can feel a similar benefit when back sleeping.
Despite the flatter build, the dense foams provide ample pressure relief. Cushioning prevents my shoulder, jaw or ear from growing numb during the night, and the contouring fills the gap between the mattress and my head.
During this week long testing period I came down with a cold, giving me an unusual opportunity to explore the Tempur-Cloud in-depth.
One big benefit I noticed while struggling with a bout of illness-induced insomnia was that no matter how much I tossed and turned, the pillow simply adjusted to my new position — no fluffing required.
However, I'd also developed a fever and I woke up overly warm several times during the night. At these moments I struggled to find the 'cool side' of the Tempur-Cloud. It all felt uncomfortably warm.
This hasn't been a reoccurring issue, but if you regularly experience night sweats or hot flushes, I would steer clear of the Tempur-Cloud. The Casper Hybrid Pillow with Snow Technology might be a better choice for hot sleepers.
Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Cloud Pillow: My early thoughts
After a week of testing, I'm impressed with the Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Cloud Pillow for stomach and back sleeping. It can be hard to find a stomach sleeping pillow that cushions the head without lifting the neck, but the Tempur-Cloud strikes a good balance.
I still need more time to fully review the Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Cloud Pillow — I've hardly attempted side sleeping and I need to make a few assessments not afflicted by fever.
However, I've heard a lot about Tempur-Material since working as a sleep writer (did you know it's the original memory foam and based on a NASA design?) but this was my first chance to see if it lives up to its dense pressure relief promises. So far, it's not let me down.
