The most obvious differences between the DreamCloud and the Nectar are their appearances and construction.

The DreamCloud Luxury Hybrid resembles a hotel mattress with a quilted top and a regal blue-and-white colorway. It had a bed of individually wrapped coils that lend support but also yield a lot of bounce.

Meanwhile, the Nectar Classic has a more basic design with a flat top and tidy blue and white color scheme. It's an all-foam bed, so it's lacking in that bounce, although it's not as "gooey" as some other memory foam mattresses we've tried.

Both are quite well-rounded in terms of comfort and support, but our snap judgment would be to recommend the DreamCloud for back sleepers and the Nectar for side sleepers.

Price-wise, you'll be spending roughly the same amount for each, with the DreamCloud being the cheaper option of the two these days. Both also come with a one-year mattress trial, a forever warranty, and free shipping and returns.

DreamCloud and Nectar use a "Total Value" system to calculate their MSRPs. This figure is based on the average cost of three comparable mattresses.

However, you can ignore this, as both brands run evergreen mattress sales.

The current DreamCloud mattress sale drops the price of a queen DreamCloud Luxury Hybrid from $665 to $599. That ties the lowest price we've seen for it so far this year. This offer previously included up to $599 worth of free bedding, but it's still a solid deal without it.

DreamCloud Luxury Hybrid vs Nectar Classic: Materials & Design

• The 12" DreamCloud has 8 layers with a plush, quilted top cover
• The 12" Nectar has 5 layers, topped with contouring memory foam

Both of these mattresses-in-a-box measure 12" tall, but the DreamCloud Luxury Hybrid has a more complex design.

The DreamCloud's top comfort layers comprise contouring gel memory foam and support foam quilted into the top cover, which is a 99/1 blend of polyester and cashmere. There's another layer of gel memory foam underneath for pressure relief.

A support layer of gel-infused foam gives way to a bed of individually-wrapped coils that are reinforced along the perimeter for edge support. At the base of the mattress is a thin, dense layer of stability foam.

The lower cover is shift-resistant and includes side handles for easy maneuvering when rotating or moving the mattress.

The Nectar Classic's comparatively simple design consists of three types of foam.

On top is a 1" memory foam comfort layer that molds to the body for pressure relief. Underneath that is a 3" responsive foam layer for alignment. At the base is 8 inches of foundational foam for edge-to-edge stability, Everything is wrapped in a shift-resistant cover (but no side handles).

Topping the Nectar Classic is a breathable cool-touch cover that's been finished with an antimicrobial treatment for cleaner sleep. (You'll still want to wrap it in a mattress protector.) Boost the cooling by upgrading to a cover woven with even more heat-wicking fibers for $79 extra.

Interestingly, the DreamCloud is also available as an all-foam mattress for the same price; it swaps the coils for a foam core. Likewise, the Nectar Classic can be made into a hybrid with wrapped coils, but it'll cost more.

DreamCloud Luxury Hybrid vs Nectar Classic: Comfort & Support

• Both are medium-firm mattresses — the Nectar is a tad firmer
• The DreamCloud is excellent for back sleepers and pain relief
• The Nectar is versatile for all styles but suits side sleeping best

We recently re-tested the DreamCloud Luxury Hybrid Mattress, which underwent a mild design change since we first tested it in 2022.

Despite being a couple of inches shorter now, the DreamCloud is a touch softer — likely due to the addition of another memory foam layer. We collectively rate it around a 7 out of 10 (medium-firm) in our DreamCloud Luxury Hybrid Mattress review.

However, our testers still needed several nights to break it in the DreamCloud. After a brief adjustment period, they were able to ease into the hybrid's plush quilted cover and supportive coils.

The consensus among our wider testing panel is that the DreamCloud Luxury Hybrid is top-notch for back sleeping. The weight distribution offers a just-right level of support with ample cushioning for the joints.

Side sleepers will get on with the DreamCloud as well, but it could feel too firm at first, especially for those who weigh less than 150lbs. Again, this break-in period is crucial, as most of our testers eventually found comfort sleeping this way on the DreamCloud.

We consider the DreamCloud one of the best mattresses for back pain, too. The top foam layers conform to the hips and lumbar for near-immediate pressure relief, while the base layers keep everything aligned. This led to good mornings for our testers with back problems.

However, the previous DreamCloud hybrid was firm enough to suit stomach sleepers, but this iteration isn't quite as solid. This may be an issue for heavier stomach sleepers in particular.

The Nectar Classic is another medium-firm mattress. We rate it a 7.5 out of 10 on the firmness scale in our Nectar Classic Memory Foam Mattress review. That's just a hair above the DreamCloud.

Unlike the previous Nectar Memory Foam Mattress, the Nectar Classic has a sturdier build to accommodate most sleep styles and body types.

That said, our testers believe it's a mattress for side sleepers, first and foremost. Although it's not super plush, the memory foam comfort layer gradually softened to contour their bodies, while the support foams promoted a neutral spine.

It was a similar experience for our back and front sleepers, who were able to enjoy the mild hug of the Nectar's top layer without their lower backs and hips dipping too low.

The flat surface of the Nectar Classic may be more beneficial to stomach sleepers than the deep quilting of the DreamCloud, but we wouldn't go as far as calling the Nectar one of the best mattresses for stomach sleepers.

DreamCloud Luxury Hybrid vs Nectar Classic: Performance

• For cooler sleep, the coil-based DreamCloud has the advantage
• Neither is known for superb edge support, but Nectar's is better
• Both dampen movement well, but Nectar is the victor here

The DreamCloud Luxury Hybrid and the Nectar Classic maintained a comfortable sleeping temperature for our reviewers, but we're giving the DreamCloud the slight advantage here, as the coils help with airflow for even cooler sleep.

The Nectar Classic is among the better memory foam mattresses we've tried in terms of temperature regulation, but if you're prone to hot flashes or night sweats, consider the cooling cover upgrade or invest in one of the best cooling mattresses instead.

You might think the DreamCloud's reinforced coils make it the automatic winner over the Nectar in the edge support category, but according to our testing and real-world experience, this is the DreamCloud's Achilles' heel.

Whether we were sitting along the sides or sleeping against the edge, our testers did not feel any resistance from the reinforced coils that are supposed to line the perimeter of the DreamCloud.

The Nectar's edge support isn't outstanding — it's barely above average compared to the dozens of mattresses our team has tested. Still, the edges of the Nectar Classic provided much more stability for our testers compared to the DreamCloud.

Either option is a good mattress for couples who don't want to feel their partner's movements during the night. The DreamCloud has a springy surface, but our drop tests revealed the foam layers and individually-wrapped coils keep the motion transfer to a minimum.

However, the Nectar Classic performs even better in this area, which isn't surprising, given it's made exclusively of foam.

Our lead tester for the Nectar Classic shares a bed with her partner, and they hardly noticed when the other was getting up or switching sides. The Nectar's drop tests were equally impressive.
