Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro vs Cocoon by Sealy Chill: Which affordable cooling mattress is right for you?

Looking for luxury cooling without spending a fortune? The Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro Hybrid mattress and Cocoon by Sealy Chill Memory Foam mattress are two great options, and you can bag a queen size of each mattress for $999 and $699 respectively in this month's mattress sales.

While that's great value, it makes deciding between the two a tough call. Especially considering Cocoon by Sealy is favoured by the likes of Oprah Winfrey, while Brooklyn Bedding often wows our panel of expert mattress testers.

When we're deciding which mattresses deserve a spot in our best mattress of the year guide, we consider key variables like comfort and support, price, temperature regulation and design.

So, here we're comparing the Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro Hybrid mattress and Cocoon by Sealy Chill Memory Foam mattress based on their performance in these areas, so you can decide which is right for you. We predict that both will have generous discounts in the upcoming Memorial Day mattress sales, so it's a great time to decide.

Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro Hybrid vs Cocoon by Sealy Chill Memory Foam: Key differences

First thing's first: both these mattresses offer luxury for less. The main differences between the two models we are comparing here that the Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro is a hybrid mattress while the Cocoon by Sealy Chill is a memory foam mattress. However, both come in hybrid and memory foam options.

The Cocoon by Sealy Chill Memory Foam Mattress features in our best memory foam mattress guide thanks to its impressive cooling capability and good spinal support.

On the other hand, the Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro Hybrid Mattress is a newer mattress, released in October 2024. But we've already got our hands on it and are currently undertaking our thorough mattress review process. So far, we've been sleeping comfortably and cool on this affordable, but premium-feeling, hybrid mattress.

Both of these mattresses are packed with cooling technology, bringing hot sleepers relief. But the type of cooling materials they use differs. As its name suggests, the CopperFlex harnesses the high thermal conductivity of copper ribbons, while the Cocoon by Sealy Chill uses phase change materials, which absorb heat as they change shape.

Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro Hybrid vs Cocoon by Sealy Chill Memory Foam: Price & Trial

  • The Brooklyn Bedding queen size usually sells for $999 at 25% off
  • A queen Cocoon by Sealy usually sells for $699 at 35% off
  • Brooklyn Bedding offers a 120 night trial, while Sealy offers 100 nights

Brooklyn Bedding state the aim of the CopperFlex is 'quality comfort meets affordability', while Cocoon by Sealy aims to provide 'personalized, conforming support at an unbeatable price'.

We don't always fall for this kind of marketing, but after testing both models, we agree that these beds offer exceptional quality for their price point.

Both brands offer generous evergreen savings, which is the reason these great quality beds are such good value. Brooklyn Bedding mattress sales knock at least 25% off the CopperFlex Pro, with this discount peaking to 30% during major sale periods.

Meanwhile, Cocoon by Sealy mattress sales cut 35% off the Chill Mattress and throw in a free sleep bundle, which really adds value to the price. This bundle usually includes two pillows, a sheet set and mattress protector.

After these discounts are applied, the price of a queen CopperFlex Hybrid Pro is $999 (was $1,332) and a queen Cocoon by Sealy Chill memory foam is $699 (was $1,079).

Even though the CopperFlex is $200 more expensive than the Cocoon by Sealy Chill during the sales, hybrids are expected to be slightly more expensive than memory foam mattresses due to the additional coil technology.

Plus, we're talking about the Pro version of the CopperFlex here. The standard model matches the queen size price of the Cocoon. You can get a queen standard CopperFlex Hybrid mattress for just $699 at Brooklyn Bedding now.

The brands offer a standard, similar length sleep trial (120 nights at Brooklyn Bedding and 100 nights at Cocoon by Sealy). However, Brooklyn Bedding trumps Cocoon in terms of warranty. They offer a lifetime reassurance, while you get 10 years warranty with Sealy.

Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro Hybrid vs Cocoon by Sealy Chill Memory Foam: Comfort & Support

  • The hybrid CopperFlex offers more responsive support
  • The Cocoon by Sealy Chill is on the firm side for a memory foam mattress
  • Both offer a strong balance of back support and pressure relief

The Cocoon by Sealy Chill is on the firm side for a memory foam mattress. We rate it 6.5 out of 10 on the firmness scale (where 10 is the firmest) when we tested it for the Cocoon by Sealy Chill mattress review, which nearly aligns with the brand's classification of 6 out of 10.

Our tester says: "The mattress delivers some of that classic memory foam feel; it’s soft and supportive, cushioning and contouring to your body. However, while you get some of the hugging sensation associated with memory foam while you sleep, you don't get the full, classic feel." This means you sleep more on top of the mattress rather than sinking into the foams.

This makes it particularly ideal for side sleepers who enjoy pressure relief around the shoulders, hips and knees, while the responsiveness of the surface supports light weight back and stomach sleeping too. The lumbar support it offers earns this mattress a spot in our best mattresses for back pain guide. So really, it's a great all rounder that will suit nearly every type of sleeper.

Moreover, we also agree with Brooklyn Bedding's firmness rating of 7 out of 10 when we tried the CopperFlex Hybrid Pro mattress. We found it offers ample cushioning and contouring thanks to its ribbed pillow-top surface. This is balanced with ideal lumbar support.

Our testers didn't have trouble moving between sleeping positions on this mattress, making it an ideal choice for combination sleepers who like to switch up their sleep style through the night.

However, strict stomach or back sleepers would most likely benefit from a firmer mattress than either of these beds, so consider choosing from our best firm mattress guide.

Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro Hybrid vs Cocoon by Sealy Chill Memory Foam: Performance

  • Both mattresses have specialized cooling technology
  • Both performed brilliantly in motion isolation tests
  • CopperFlex beats the Cocoon by Sealy Chill in terms of edge support

The Cocoon by Sealy Chill mattress makes it into our best cooling mattress 2025 guide as our recommended budget cooling mattress. This means it offers excellent temperature regulation, despite its memory foam build, which really impressed us when testing.

While it's the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe mattress that's made it into our cooling guide as the best option for back pain, the CopperFlex Pro has impressed us so far in our testing period. It has kept us cool, even with the gradual temperature rise spring has brought in the UK.

Out of all the paces we put the Cocoon by Sealy Chill through during our testing procedure it performed worst in edge support, earning a 3 out of 5 score. As expected with an all-foam mattress, the perimeter compresses significantly under pressure. This isn't ideal for people with reduced mobility who need support when getting in and out of bed.

Although you initially sink when sitting on the sides of the CopperFlex due to its pillow-top, we found it more supportive around the edges than the Cocoon by Sealy Chill.

Both mattresses offer terrific motion isolation, making them good choices for couples. The Cocoon by Sealy scored an exceptional 4.5 out of 5 stars for motion isolation. Our reviewers say they "could barely tell there was another body next to them, and were able to to move around without disturbing their partner."

The CopperFlex gained a great performance in our objective motion isolation tests. However, in general memory foam mattresses tend to be better than mattresses with coils at minimizing motion transfer.

So, the Cocoon by Sealy Chill could be the better mattress for couples with different sleep schedules or where one partner is a wriggler.

Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro Hybrid vs Cocoon by Sealy Chill Memory Foam: Materials & Design

  • Both are available in memory foam and hybrid builds
  • The CopperFlex Pro Hybrid is 14" tall with seven layers
  • The Cocoon by Sealy Chill Memory Foam is 10" with four layers

Design and materials are what set these mattresses apart. The CopperFlex Pro we're testing is a hybrid mattress, while the Cocoon by Sealy Chill mattress we've reviewed is an all-foam mattress. That said, you can get both mattresses in either build.

Like all the best hybrid mattresses we've tested this year, the CopperFlex Pro combines a layer of individually-encased coils with different kinds of foam. This mattress starts with a GlacioTex cooling cover which is designed to offer a constant cool-to-the-touch feel.

Following this is three layers of specialist foam: quilted, copper infused and Variflex. After this is a layer of zoned lumbar support and then you have the Ascention X coils.

On the other hand, the 10" Cocoon by Sealy Chill Memory Foam mattress is made of four layers, combining a moisture-wicking, cool-to-touch cover made of phase change materials with contouring foam, responsive foam that absorbs motion, and robust foam for durability. It's a more simple design, but it's still very effective.

Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro Hybrid vs Cocoon by Sealy Chill Memory Foam: Which should you buy?

Buy the Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro if...

✅ You're a heavier body: The CopperFlex is 4" taller than the Cocoon by Sealy Chill. This extra height, along with the responsiveness of coils, promises more sturdy support to heavier sleepers.

✅ You value more financial reassurance: Brooklyn Bedding offers an exceptional lifetime warranty and longer sleep trial than Sealy, giving you more time to decide whether it is the right mattress for you, and lifetime cover if anything goes wrong.

Buy the Cocoon by Sealy Chill if...

✅ You like a memory foam hug: Although it doesn't offer tons of sinkage, you'll get more of a hugging feeling on the Cocoon by Sealy all-foam mattress than you would on a hybrid.

✅ You're shopping on a budget: This is a purely a money-saving suggestion. While both mattresses offer great value, you can get a queen size Cocoon by Sealy $100 cheaper than the CopperFlex Pro.

✅ You have a restless partner: All-foam mattresses tend to be better at absorbing motion than hybrids due to the density of foam compared with the bounciness of coils.
