1. First off, open the main menu and select the 'Messages' icon as shown below.

2. Next, click on the three-dotted-icon located on the top right corner. This should reveal a new menu.

3. In the drop-down menu, go ahead and select the 'Settings' option as indicated on the screenshot below.

4. You should now be able to view the extended 'Messages settings'. Select 'Block numbers and messages' to proceed.

5. Next, click on the 'Caller ID and spam protection' option as shown below.

6. You should now be able to toggle on the spam protection. This should help your smartphone identify any potential spam and scam senders/callers as well as those who aren't listed in your contacts.

7. To finish off the process, go ahead and agree to the terms of service and privacy policy. Though make sure to give it a thorough read first. Got it? All done, you have now set up additional measures to protect yourself from spamming messages.

2. Go ahead and click on the 'block number' option. You will also get an option to delete the conversation.

1. In the main menu, click on the 'Settings' icon as shown on the screenshot below.

2. Scroll down and select 'Messages' in the settings menu.

3. Scroll down to the 'Message Filtering' section and toggle on the 'Filter Unknown Senders' option as indicated below. This will filter messages from people who are not in your contacts.

3. Next, select the 'Block this caller' option, which should be located at the bottom of the menu and highlighted in red.

How to report spam messages via your mobile carrier

Most major carriers, such as Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile, allow you to report any potential spam text messages by forwarding them to 7726. Check with your carrier if this is applicable to you. And if you're UK-based, you can do the same by forwarding a spam text message to the number mentioned above.
