13 affordable Prime Day smart device deals with up to 49% off — and they're not from Blink, Ring or Echo
The best smart device deals don't come from Blink, Ring and Echo
Prime Day is almost here. Undoubtedly, a lot of people are going to be buying Ring video doorbells and Fire TV Sticks over the event. But if you want the best smart home devices, you should make sure you're not stuck in Amazon's bubble.

Streaming devices
While we recommend 4K streaming devices over HD, this option from Roku is great if you don't have a 4K TV. You'll get access to the excellent Roku streaming interface, all the streaming services you could want and voice controls via the Roku remote.

Roku has refreshed its Streaming Stick Plus with a sleek and slim new design. It's equipped with loads of features, like Backdrops, Roku smart home compatibility, and HDR10+ support. It also comes in as one of the cheapest options in the market for 4K streaming sticks, making it one steal of a pick built on one of the best platforms. All this is why we rank it as the best streaming device you can buy — it's worth grabbing over a Fire TV Stick due to the better streaming interface and lesser reliance on ads.

Video Doorbells
When we tested Arlo’s 2K video doorbell we liked that it can be installed with a battery or hardwired, and we approved of the sharp 2K resolution and 12x digital zoom. It also has clear and sharp audio, works well alongside smart assistants. The integration with its own app was great, but without a subscription it lacks some essential features. Still, at $40 it's an extremely affordable option that's well worth a look.

In our Nest Doorbell (3rd Gen, Wired) review, we praised it for its sleek design, and liked that it offers six hours of free video storage. We rank it as the best video doorbell on the market right now.

And there are no subscription fees necessary — that makes it worth buying over a cheaper Ring model. It includes package detection, and you can record video locally to its secure base even if your internet happens to go down.
