It's the final day of group stage games at Euro 2024 with just four games remaining before we move into the knockout rounds. Of course, this is just the end of the beginning, as after the group stage the real drama begins.

The good news is that Tom’s Guide is on hand to guide you through the entire tournament, from the group stage to the grand final. We’re offering a complete guide to watching Euro 2024 online, to help you cheer your side on from the start.

The 2024 edition of the quadrennial tournament is being held in Germany, and it’s a fitting location for the prestigious knock-out competition as the German national team has won the Euros three times. However, the current holders are Italy, who beat England on penalties at Euro 2020, but made somewhat tough work of qualifying finishing runner-up in their group, and are doubt to retain their title.

The clear favorites at this early stage are France. The current French squad packs world-class quality in every position (Real Madrid-bound Kylian Mbappé is the team's biggest star), and last won the Euros in 2016. France also won the World Cup in 2018 and made a further World Cup final in 2022. Les Blues are clearly the team to beat.

Other teams arriving in Germany with their eyes firmly on the prize include an England side that is younger and fresher than the one that fell at the final hurdle at Euro 2020. Meanwhile, Spain, Portugal, Belgium and the Netherlands will believe they have a realistic shot at glory with strong squads. It’s a competitive field across the board, and this should lead to plenty of thrilling matches and stunning goals.

Every single game is set to be broadcast around the globe, with the tournament being particularly easy to watch in the U.S. and U.K. But don’t worry if you’ll be somewhere else during Euro 2024, or will be on holiday during a key match, we’ll make sure you catch every game. Read on to find out how to watch Euro 2024 wherever you are online and for free.

Euro 2024 FAQ

When does Euro 2024 take place?

Euro 2024 is scheduled to kick off on Friday, June 14 with a match between Germany and Scotland in the city of Munich. The international soccer tournament will run for exactly a month with the grand finale booked for Sunday, July 14 in Berlin. The tournament starts with a group stage, before moving to the knockout rounds. These high-stakes games begin with the Round of 16 on June 29.

Where does Euro 2024 take place?

Germany is the host nation of Euro 2024. This will be the first major international soccer tournament held in the country since the 2006 FIFA World Cup, and it’s a fitting location as Germany is one of the most football-fanatic countries in the world. The German national has also won the European Championship three times in 1972, 1980 and 1996.

There will be 51 matches played in total, with the Euros running across 10 stadiums each in a different part of Germany. The stadiums hosting Euro 2024 matches are as follows:

  • Olympiastadion Berlin (71,000)
  • Cologne Stadium (43,000)
  • BVB Stadion Dortmund (62,000)
  • Düsseldorf Arena (47,000)
  • Frankfurt Arena (47,000)
  • Arena AufSchalke (50,000)
  • Volksparkstadion Hamburg (49,000)
  • Leipzig Stadium (40,000)
  • Munich Football Arena (66,000)
  • Stuttgart Arena (51,000)

How many teams are playing in Euro 2024?

There are 24 teams taking part in Euro 2024. Obviously, this includes host country Germany as well as firm favorites France, Portugal and Spain. Other nations with plenty of recognizable players to watch out for are England, Netherlands, Italy and Denmark. The only team that hasn’t previously played at a European Championship tournament before is Georgia, they qualified via the playoffs and have been drawn in Group F.

Who is expected to win Euro 2024?

Picking the winner of an international tournament is no easy task, and several nations will believe they have the squad to go all the way at Euro 2024.

Spain and Portugal are certainly likely to progress deep into the competition, while Germany will have home support advantage which has historically proved to be a big boost. England were considered pre-tournament favorites, but look much less likely to win their first-ever European Championship after injuries to key players like Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw, and the side's warmup games being less than encouraging.

However, while it wouldn't be a shock to see Spain, Portugal or Germany lift the trophy, the clear favorites are France. This French team is so good, that its B-team would have a strong chance of making the finals, and Les Bleus come into this tournament after back-to-back World Cup finals. While France's limp exit from Euro 2021 to Switzerland was a significant shock, just don't bet on lightning striking twice. France are extremely likely to go far in Euro 2024 and are expected by many to win.
