New on Hulu in May 2025 — all the new shows and movies to watch

Somehow, it's already nearly May, and that means new stuff is coming to all the best streaming services, including Hulu.

One highlight is the second season of Hulu's buzzy Nicole Kidman thriller series, "Nine Perfect Strangers." The show was originally a limited series, but is now returning to whisk us off to the Austrian Alps for a new mystery involving Kidman's Masha Dmitrichenko.

There are tons of movies coming to Hulu this month, including two I want to shout about. The first is Gia Coppola's Vegas showgirl character study, "The Last Showgirl," and Mohammad Rasoulof's Academy Award-nominated political drama, "The Seed of the Sacred Fig".

New on Hulu in May 2025: Top picks

'Nine Perfect Strangers' season 2

Almost four years after the show's Hulu debut, "Nine Perfect Strangers" is returning to our screens, with Kidman's mysterious wellness guru Masha inviting a fresh set of strangers to another retreat.

Last time, it was a resort in Cabrillo, California, but the show's official description confirms we're moving to a new retreat in the Austrian Alps, where Masha will take her next set of strangers "to the brink" (per Variety).

In addition to Kidman, the new series also features Henry Golding, Lena Olin, Annie Murphy, Christine Baranski, Murray Bartlett, Mark Strong, and more.

Gia Coppola's "The Last Showgirl" takes us to the Las Vegas Strip for a story about Shelly, a middle-aged Vegas showgirl (Pamela Anderson) whose world is shaken when she learns the show she's been performing at for three decades is about to end.

What follows is a poignant story of family, friendship, and resilience as she and the rest of the performers from Le Razzle Dazzle revue try to negotiate their now-uncertain future.

"The Seed of the Sacred Fig" is a searing political thriller made in secret by Iranian filmmaker Mohammad Rasoulof that has been branded 'essential viewing' by critics.

It's a searing look at political tension in Iran, one that centers on Iman (Missagh Zareh) and his family in Tehran. When he is promoted to an investigator role for the Revolutionary Court. As political unrest erupts outside, he realizes just how dangerous his new role is, and grapples with paranoia and begins to distrust those around him, including his own wife and daughters.
