Of all the buds we've tested, few have come close to the impressive display of the Sony WF-1000XM5. Like the (slightly annoying) honour student they've now become, the XM5 aced every test we threw at them, and then proceeded to stomp all over the competition.

Excellent sound quality? Check. Comfortable fit? Check. Compact, super portable design? Also, check. Most buds excel at one particular thing, but the Sonys manage to impress on all fronts — and now you can get them with a massive £70 off at Amazon.

Packing in some of the best noise cancelling you'll ever hear and some stellar sound quality, the WF-1000XM5 aren't to be missed — particularly at this bargain price.

One of the best aspects of the XM5s, however, is the battery life. With a grand 8 hours out of the buds themselves, you get more staying power than the AirPods Pro 2 and their 6-hour battery. The case power pack isn't quite as impressive, only upping the battery to 24 hours, but the buds are, really, the bit you want to last so you get fewer interrupted listening sessions.

There is a whole range of silicon and foam ear tips in the box as well, so that you can make sure they fit as securely and comfortably as possible. The noise cancelling is almost the best in class, only losing out slightly to the Bose Quiet Comfort Ultra Earbuds, and matching the AirPods Pro 2.

They also happen to be our pick for the best wireless earbuds that you can buy — and this massive discount just gives you another reason to pick them up.
